I've had my 102, Hicap, Napsac & CDX in storage for the past 18 years while working overseas. Sold my 180 at the time and would have sold the rest had I known it would have been this long. Do the electronics degrade faster or slower if unused for this many years? The CDX is mostly showing an Err message although I can sometimes get it to play. Not sure how the 102 & HiCap have fared. Is it OK to power up the 102/HiCap without the 180 and grab a signal from the tape out to a headphone...

what will be the difference between the NDS and the ND555?
Modern Stagelines have two rear sockets, one 5 pin DIN 240° (to get 24V from and send the signal to the AUX2 of preamps or integrates), one 4 pin DIN 240 (to use with a 4-5 pin DIN IC to take the signal to a normal line input in a pre or integrated). If I am using an external *cap, and the necessary 4-5 Interconnect, should I take the signal from the Stageline or from the *cap (Flat, Hi, Super)? My idea is from the *cap like in any other similar configuration, and that the 4 pin, 240° DIN...
I have an originally feted 1994 LP12/Aro/Geddon as my only source. My phono cartridge was until recently a Dynavector XX2MKii. The XX2 is a great cartridge and I would recommend it to anyone as a short-list candidate if in the market for a phono cartridge in this price range. Having owned the XX2 for 5 years, I was curious as to what more the XV1s has to offer. My XX2 died and so I was forced to either rebuild the XX2 , or trade it in - which I did. I have had the XV1 s for about two weeks...
Just got my 300 back from a DR upgrade. Noticed that on the back of the unit, there isn't a DR sticker like the one on the 552 PS after I had it DR upgraded. Just wondering if this is still the practice?
My dealer, Mike at Infidelity, got in touch last week saying he had heard this newly released power-block and was impressed. He’d ordered a demo version and wondered if I wanted to give it a try in my system. The oldest component in my system is a Russ Andrews power block, which has always served me well and the cabling within it matches that used for the dedicated rings-main I installed for my system many years ago, but I have given occasional thought to trying something different. And...
My system, that has served me very well since I bought it all in the late 80's now needs bringing into the 21st century. It comprises of a LP12/Ittok/Troika; NAC62/Hi-cap/140 with a Naim FM tuner and Spendor speakers [these were recent replacements]. I have had all the kit factory serviced and upgraded here and there over the years, cartridge rebuilt, etc and to my ears, it sounds as sweet as a nut. I used to have a Marantz CD player coupled though that is playing up at times and I like some...
Hi all, While i've been happilly enjoying my Uniti Atom since it arrived last week, I've also been accountering my first problems with the unit. I chose the HDMI version to be able to connect my TV and i've noticed the following : while everything seems fine, from time to time the sound just goes off with no sound coming out from the speakers at all !!! I checked the connections several times to ensure everything was at the right place and properly set up and did not notice anything anormal.
I'm after a bit of history. I see a lot of naxos that are only powered by a single 24v supply, both 2-4s and 3-6s, however, mine (2-4) has a dual 24v supply, one for each channel. Is this an in betweener before the snaxo? Does the snaxo have a supply for each frequency range as well as channel?
Hi Long time absent, i came back into the Naim game after more than a decade with a s/h Nait5 and Stageline N. The Nait is a real "funplifier", i goes incredibly well with my Metrum Dac and Totem Dreamcatcher speakers. Vinyl playback through the Stageline though is a real disappointment. The Stageline is fed the signal from a Grado Reference Platinum2 (from a Kuzma Stabi S/Stogi S), is powered by the Aux2 input of the Nait (black Snaic) and sits far away on its own shelf. The sound from the...
Hello out there , need specs for lower transit bolts for (active) NBLs. Naim gave me these specs for upper transit screws and they are as follows: socket screw, steel, cap. self color (?) ,M6 X 40..... not easy to come across in the US. The lower screws no idea of specs? Thx in advance for any help or suggestions. Moderated Post: Zoot, I have edited your post. Please respect forum rules, thank you.
It looked like pre-mass production units have 400 VA mark, no matter if it is a Star or Nova. From the recent pics on the net, I have noticed way below consumption numbers printed on Atom or Star compared with those of predecessors. New amp topology or new calculation according to relevant EC directives
Had my Nait 3 back in place for 3 weeks now after its service, so I think I can evaluate its performance now it its thoroughly warmed up. The reason I had it serviced was the slightly lumpen performance from the phono boards via my new P6 Rega turntable. There has certainly been an improvement in several areas. Midrange and treble are now more forward in the mix and the bass is tighter and more defined. The last piece of the jigsaw will be upgrading from the Rega Exact cartridge to an Audio...
A bit of a niche question I'm afraid. At the moment I drive my active ovator 600s with 2 NAP 500DRs. What would be the benfit(s) of adding a third 500? Has anyone out there done this before, or perhaps used 3 300s? If so what was your experience? Good, bad or indifferent?
Hi, apologies in advance as this isn't specifically a question relating to Naim components, however the rest of my system is Naim and I follow this site regularly so I imagine someone will be able to answer my question. It relates to setting up my RP10. Rega state that the tracking force of an Apheta 2 cartridge is 1.75 - 2.0g and that the antiskate should mirror this. I set my tracking force to about 1.85g as I've read it is better to err on the higher end rather than have it too low. In...
Any suggestions for not too expensive upgrades on the vinyl end? I'm running the Rega RP6 / Exact into Stageline/HicapDR into a 272/250DR into Harbeth SHL5+s. One thought I had was moving to Rega Aria, and the newer Ania MC cartridge, and selling off the Stageline/HiCapDR/Exact - would probably be a $0 upgrade - but also risk of too much chop and churn for no benefit.
Apologies if this has already been answered. Are Naim running open demonstrations or will they be ticketed as in previous years? Many thanks
Hello everyone, first post. I own the above setup with some tannoy revolution xt6f. I would really like a pair of atc scm19s, just wondering if the amp is enough. Thanks
I have Nac-N272 which I use it with Roksan Caspian M1 power amplifier. For the best result, which pre out connection should I use? Currently I'm using rca pre out. Should I use din pre out with din to rca cable? Does it make any difference? Thanks.
Does anyone use these seen some on the bay and thought good for dust, but also thinking of moving my Nova into a large kitchen dining area it's open plan, but would get more even more use. My concern was cooking aromas and steam, minor as Nova would be quite a distance from the cooker with a huge extractor good. Am I being too OCD and these devices are robust?
Hi guys, I am running a Xerxes 20+ with Artemiz 2 arm and Dynavector xx-2 cartridge. I am finding that when I move the arm towards the centre spindle and then release it, it drifts back towards the arm rest. This also happens when I try to lower the arm onto a record. If I remove the anti skate string from the arm it does not drift and does not move when lowering the arm so to my mind the anti skate must be the root of the problem. I assume if the arm drifts from the centre outwards then...
Hi, it seems that the green LED display of my UNITI is not so brillant, it's...an opaque green. I think that there are 2 options: 1) I'm over 50 and my eyes start having problems 2) somewhere, in the app, there's a way to change the led intensity What aobout option 2 ? I'm going to an oculist to check option 1. Thanks
Hi, just wanted to see if anyone else had done the same experiment as me and wanted to share their experiences. I simply moved the isolation shelf from my frame base up two levels so it now sits below my 252. (LP12/252/300/Radikal, std shelfs). I might be imagening but I believe there is more definition and authority to the presentation...
Can a single Supercap be 'shared' so that it powers both a Naim DAC a Superline? Clearly both are not required to be USED at the same time....
