Hi, Wondering if any one would be able to advise me on how much space I should allow for my my Supernait and cd5 in an AV cabinet I am having built. It will also house a Yamaha AV amp, pioneer multidisc player, non-Naim power supply and an Epicon vokal centre speaker. I want the unit as small as possible. In my current enclosed cabinet I have about 15cm above the Supernait and 10cm above the CD5 and don’t have any issues with overheating. However I would like to reduce this space if possible...
I came across this phrase yesterday in a post about the CD5xs and the use or not of a flatcap with it. Now I queried what this meant in relation to listening to music but there was no answer. I wonder if anyone here can enlighten me, or not.
Just about to get a set of SL speaker cables, however a speaker cable link set to use with my ProAc D48R speakers is proving a challenge. Currently have NACA5 with a set of Chord Signature link cables (better than the supplied pins, not saying much, a safety pin would be better than them......) . The cost of matching SL link cables was truly frightening when I was quoted the cost. Even the Chord Sarum T link set was half the cost. I imagine the SL link set cost is to reflect the special SL...
Enjoying an olive NAC102 I've had for quite a while. One very minor thing I've wanted to do is update the labels within the source selection buttons (for instance, source 1 states "aux" while I actually have the turntable running through it). Has anyone done this, are there any guidelines? Thanks! Keith.
To the collective wisdom, what’s the best cable to join my 52 and Hugo together. I used a HiLine for the NDX but finding Din-RCA s/h ones is impossible. Would like to avoid SL prices., so say sub £500 happy to go new or s/h. Thanks Rob
I was wondering if I could get the opinion of anyone out there who has or have had a CD 5 XS ??? I am thinking about investing in one to start a long term project the of building a separates naim system and felt I should check here with forum. I know that they XS series is being discontinued. Any feedback appreciated !
Anyone have any views/experience/opinions on a bare CDX2 vs a UnitiServe plus DAC V1 for CD play..... into a 272? Or is playing CD’s a thing of the past now? Appreciate thoughts etc. KR, J
Anything exciting announced? I thought Rega had a "brand new" turntable to add to their range ....
Hi, just for interest. Does anybody know what protections do "Naim Uniti Atoms" have? (for example, hard clipping protection, DC protection, overheateing protection, short circuit protection, etc..). There are no info about that in specifications, but maybe somebody has info about that. NAIM seems to be one of the top audio amp brands, so logic dictates that there should be some kind of protections integrated into the Atom. Thanks
When one uses an external PS for 272 ie. 555PS with a single Burndy,is the PS supplying the digital streamer or the analogue pre-amp or both. I ask because if I get a new streamer and use the 555PS for that, can I use the pre-amp section of the 272 as is. Will it be essentially the same preamp as I'm using now.

I would drive these speakers by 282/250. Is this a good match ? Can this amp drive these boxes 'properly'' ? Thx.
The thread title says it all. Reason for regret could include extra costs, more OCD etc. Just like to hear your experiences. I don’t have anything to offer. Phil
I am planning on getting a NAP 155xs or a NAP 200(DR) for my NAC 152xs. At this moment I am using a flatcap xs and power my 152 with both upgrade paths. If I have understood it correctly, if using a NAP 155xs or 200 the flatcap will still be a substantial upgrade. However if I get a NAP 200DR I assume that my flatcap will not add much to the system? Has anyone compared a NAP 200DR with a 152xs against a NAP 200 (non dr) + flatcap with a 152xs?
So the Classic look continues
Is it possible? Thanks steve
I am looking to upgrade soon. There are three possible areas. However, my system first. Bluesound Node 2, Chord Mojo, Naim 282/250.2 with PSU, NACA5 and Dynaudio Focus 160s. Upgrade options are: Replace Chord Mojo, possibly with Qutest or Schiit Multibit. I like what the Mojo does, it sounds far more natural that some other DACs that I have tried, and the Qutest might lift that a step further. Have the 250.2 DR’d. However, do not feel this is the weakest part of the system. Replace the PSU...
Considering a speaker upgrade and have looked at Burmester BA31 as an alternative to my Audiovector Si3 Avantgarde Arreté. Aware there are literally tons of other speakers that would match well with my Naim amps (nac552+nap300), but have some fairly strict limitations on size and aesthetics at home - hence why the Burmesters have come into the picture. Been searching this forum and the web at large, but don't seem to find much which could support this idea, or deter me from further...
My system: NAP300DR, NAC552DR, CDS3/PS555DR, speakers Spendor SP100R2. In considering new speakers I’m reminded of what Martin Colloms said when he reviewed the new DR circuit, “Naim prioritized musical communication over sound quality purity.” Reading this I realized it was probably the reason I was captivated first time I heard Naim, though unfairly it was active SBL “6-pack.” Naim’s focus unlike almost all is to allow listener to remain focused on the music without making believe they...
i thought I would make my predictions on new naim products which will be announced in 2018 as opposed to be available to buy! 1) New crossovers to work with kudos loudspeakers Reason already seen at some demonstrations in 2017 2) 3 new streamers to replace nds , ndx and nd5 Reason fairly simply task of adding features already on unity range of streamers onto classic range to update and refresh the range. thats it. what do others think in one year we will see who was right?
I have a 282 that is twelve years old or a bit more. Do preamps benefit from a recap? If so, is there the same improvement as power amps have when so serviced?
NDS has been discontinued. Bummer, but time marches on. I've enjoyed my player for many years upgrading with a second 555 power supply, Chord Ethernet cables and recently discovering the quality of the digital BNC connection. Looking forward to hearing the ND555.
Yesterday, I watched a video by Paul McGowan of PS Audio. He says the most optimum sound can be achived when preamp is set the max. volume and the volume control is done by the DAC. Is this true? I am scared to test/run my NAC202 (NAP200) at max. volume and control the volume from Logitech SB Touch/DAC.
Hi, I know it has been discussed in the past, but I want to hear from 500DR owners that previously had 500 non-DR, what kind of improvements should I expect? I have not heard the 500DR in my system (it's impossible to demonstrate it in my country), but on a few other ocassions I got the impression of this: The 500 non-DR is more fatty, less precise and darker sounding. The 500DR is brighter, thiner, but has more bass definition and better clarity and details. A friend of mine says that the...
Is there any reason why, apart from an internal fault, I cannot get output from my ND5XS when the SNAIC is connected to the CD din input in my 282? All the other inputs work. I have checked for "input phono mapping".
