if not why not? something to bridge the gap between the SuperLine and StageLine for magnet carts. the SL has to be close to 15 years without any updates and is a bit of a weak link in any mid-level systems and there's nothing to upgrade to. a SuperLine and MC cart is much too far a jump for a lot vinyl listeners out there. there seems to be a new Naim streaming/digital box every few months but nothing for vinyl like nothing at all, ever.

Good morning gentleman, Quick question: Is my 250DR enough to drive the SCM40 or should I be better to just keep my 272 and buy the SCM40A instead? Would the naim sound be preserved, should I choose the latter? Thank you kindly, I'll check this page relentlessly for the next few days

Dear all You have my apologies for my prolonged absence. I've recently completed my B.Sc (Hons) in Acupuncure and I never realised how much stress I was under until I finished my course. I'm not sure what came over me but I hope you can forgive my out of the ordinary character. So who's looking forward to the ND555?

Now that the Titan 707’s have been out for awhile i would be interested in how the owners are liking them. I have heard the Titan 88’s many times and like them. Wondering how The 707’s compare. I am currently running Ovator S600’s in a NDS/552DR/500DR system with Chord Music cables.

hi all, am planning on a demo of a new dac , thinking chord quetest (or what ever the new one is) and the Dave just to see what the fuss is about was curious on whether people find sounds better either: 1) bnc - bnc fed from a NDX 2) usb - usb fed from a melco views as ever appreciated thanks

Yes I know the storage volume increase, but it’s nice when the nDAC lights up HD, so visually, I like it, and if the placebo is there, so be it. The illusion of sound is already there... But I ask in case the wise amongst you point out I am introducing noise to the signal, perhaps occasional interference like a defined radio?? I want to avoid that as the benefit of the HD light would be eclipsed substantially!

I have been following this forum and decided to upgrade my speakers to Hawks. I listened in the shop and all was well. After installation I find if listening loud as I have a big room ( 7 x 4 metres ) I experience some clipping. Specific problem on David Bowie Lazerus track. I am happy with the speakers but do not understand the clipping based on the speaker and SuperUniti ratings. Any ideas ? George Mac

Can somebody explain to me what is happening with my 272?I have a Core/272/XpsDR/250 DR running Dynaudio Special 40s.I also have the 272 connected to my Dynaudio XD 600s,which are active speakers, using the 272s digital out. Both are set up in the same room, right beside each other,I am always comparing the two for performance.Anyway, today I noticed that I can switch between which pair of speakers is playing, simply by increasing the volume on the Naim remote,or XD remote.Once I increase the...

hi guys, what would be a more suitable amplifier for a NAC 552. NAP 300 or a 135s? I understand a 500 would be ideal but that is currently well out of my budget Speakers will most likely be linn Isobarik. Umar

Hello from Germany, Sorry for my English. I can English a little bit. My setup is Naim NAC12/NAP160BD/CD3/LINN LP12/Akito2/Adikt/Valhalla/Naim IBL . I used nac12 with int. Phono MM boards. I want to update my system in the next 2-3 years. I'm satisfied with the sound, only man wants a bit more. I've been thinking about what the sound was going to improve a lot if IBL were to be activated. I find the IBLs sound ideal for my 13m2 room. my first question: 1. What do I need for this? NAXO2-4 +...

I thought I’d share here prompted by an article I was reading and my own experiences. SMPS are often incorrectly maligned, a switch mode powersupply can be as noise free if not better as an analogue transformer power supply if built and designed appropriately. But how do you know if you don’t have an EM/RF detector connected to a spectrum analyser? I know one can use one’s ‘ears’, however I am not sure how reliable that is unless powersupply quality is very poor given expectation bias and...

This is a curious issue as so much attention is giving to speaker cables, with costs well exceeding £1000 for 1m. Surely a key area must be how the cable connects to the speaker? A banana plug is not 100% surface area contact... So why have I not read any audiophile having soldered their cables to the final resting point at speaker terminals? In fact this begs another question- could Naim fix the the cable to the back of e.g. the Statement so the connection point doesn’t have the lack of...

I have a chance to get some Kudos X2 demos, just wonder if anyone here has run them with NAP200DR/NAC202 and what your thoughts are? They are nice and small, how are they for bottom end? Thanks

Just shelled out GBP80 for a brand new transport (Phillips 1204) for my 3.5. Same ERR message as before. The laser unit doesn't even move on the chrome rails. Laser works but little else. Any ideas?

Hi all Does anyone know anything about these? I currently only stream tidal on my NDX and wondered if one on these would allow me to integrate Roon with the NDX. I like this as I don’t use a computer and it comes with lifetime Roon membership out the box also. Would using this still use the NDX DAC if connected via coaxial or not? Is this unit likely to effect sound quality? thanks all

Good evening. Can every 555 and XPS power supply be upgraded to DR; and if so, what are costs approximately? Thanks in advance for your inputs. Cheers, Pieter

Given all the more or less recent and most recent upgrades and third party improvements for the LP12 such as Khan, Carmen, Keel, Tranquility, Urika, Urika II, Radikal, Lingo IV, Booplinth, Stiletto, Skorpion, Eklipse, and this list is far from complete, it is truly a pity that naim discontinued the ARO some while ago. Isnt it time for an ARO revival, possibly even a super ARO? Stargazing ...F

Hi there, Long time since I posted on this forum, but it is all change on the HiFi front. I have acquired a N272 preamp streamer and will be adding a 200 power amp. Obviously I will lose my phonostage (the current one is a 323K board on my Olive preamp. Originally I was going down the route of a 3rd party device such as the Leema elements device, but then I thought why not keep my Olive HiCap and add on a Stageline? This would just about fit in to my rack alongside the Lingo 1 and the HiCap.

will an SN1 adequately drive these speakers?

The Rega RP8 comes supplied with its own TT-PSU but some suggest that the more recent Neo PSU (released with the Planar 6 and usable on all models above Planar 3 - except the RP10), may be better. Apparently it is possible to finely adjust the running speed etc. The Neo is supposed to be based on the PSU used for the 'top flight' RP10 - so is thought to be better than the one supplied with the RP8 Are there any RP8 uses who have tried the Neo Turntable PSU, in preference to its standard...

For various reasons I've recently moved the audio gear out of its original room where it was absolutely superb, into a smaller room, and it now sounds crap. Really. There's a bit of ambient echo but far worse the bass is now completely dominant whilst simultaneously sounding awful; boxy, overblown etc at anything approaching normal listening levels. It's down to a mix of room size and content - previously it was in a room roughly 11' x 16' with plenty of furniture in there. It's now in a...

I have a complete naim system so I know I have the power to drive these speakers. I havent heard them yet but maybe some of you have; they are the Spendor D7 versus the Focal Kanta 2. Any input would be appreciated.
