Hi! I have a Naim Nait 5si amd and Marantz NR1506 receiver and am trying to integrate them together using the Nait's AV mode. The RCA cables connecting them are setup correctly and the front speakers are connected to the Naim. If I press the pre button on the remote handset and then press and hold the prog button the AV mode button of the front panel is ligthed but when I release the prog button the CD mode is lighted. The only input of the Naim that is connected is the AV input. If I press...

At the risk of opening another can of worms... Space is a premium, so to solve the problem of having to site the rack between the speakers, I'm splitting it in to two racks of three shelves each (Isoblue 60), this will lower everything out of the range of the speakers and avoid the sonic reverb problems associated with the former arrangement. As I understand it, the PSU's go on one side and the streamer, preamp and power go on the other, is that right? (Puts on tin hat and ducks behind flack...

Hi guy's just wondering if my superuniti's internal headphone amp is capable enough to drive the sennhieser hd600 headphones and if not is there a way to connect a decent hp amp to the superuniti? Thanks.

I've noticed a (very) slight hiss appear from my speakers. It's only really noticeable when I'm within (about) 1m of the speakers and is from the tweeter. Changing the volume of the preamp makes no difference to the hiss, neither does the mute button. Note that once music is playing I'm not aware of the hiss (excepting in completely silent passages.) My system has a 282 (2xHiCap DR) feeding into a Snaxo 242 (Supercap) and then a pair of 200s into SBLs. If I switch the Supercap off the hiss...

Mains cable, some say the most important cable to get right and the ones I’ve tried really do sound different. I don’t have the technical knowledge or master the English language enough to discuss the reasons why but my question; Is there any reason to keep auditing different hifi cables or generic cables for that matter, or should I simply stick to the standard Naim cable or better the Powerline and be done with it? And if there’s reasonable aftermarket alternatives, any suggestions?

I have bought an Arcam rHead headphone amp to connect to the tape out socket on my NAC 52 I have seen both Naim and Chord interconnect 5 pin to 2 x RCA cables on sale. Is this what I need for the connection? The description is that they are for source input to Naim amps so I was hesitating to order one. I have not seen a specific Tape output cable advertised. Cheers bruce

Please help me- I feel I’m going a little mad and need some reassurance/advice! Im now a proud owner of an RP10 with Apheta hooked up to a Rega Aria phonostage, Nac 202, Nap 200 through PMC OB1’s. I upgraded from my Planar 2 after auditioning the RP10 with a similar system at my dealers’. My dealer set up the RP10 at home and checked over the rest of my system. I’m generally blown away with the dynamics and musicality of most of my record collection- clearly more involving than my bare CDX2.

i am sure this topic has been done to death on this forum but i had to ask a couple of questions. i have some 'audiophile' power cords which i tried with the unitiqute i have - oyaide tunami, shunyata venom, audioart power 1 etc. but after some listening i found that the stock naim power cord had a more natural synergy with the unitiqute. then i saw that naim had introduced the naim powerline lite - whose magic seems to mainly lie in its plug. so i was wondering whether to buy the lite (but...

I have a Supernait which I bought pre-2010 (I think about 2008). Is it possible to update it to current day spec? And is it worth it?

Having boxed the B&W’s in anticipation of moving house, unfortunately delayed, I subbed in the missions temporarily. The70’s had not been used in 20 years. On spikes, and connected to the naim pairing via audio quest cables 5x the price, and in a large room, those little $250 (1982 pricing) speakers are a joy. Had I not invested in the B&W’s, not sure I’d miss them Guess that’s validation that the source electronics are paramount

Just pondering my next upgrade... Seriously though, that must be a thought on well-heeled eyes and in Naim R&D?

I have bought a Stageline N to unify my two systems into one, using my TT with the Supernait. I am going, for now, to use the SN's AUX2 in/out socket to power the Stageline, and observing the schematics I have realized that the SuperNait powers its phone stage with dual rail 24V, but its internal preamp with a single rail. The internal power supplying for the preamp could be dual railed too, like a lesser HiCap, but the choice was made to power the preamp section with a single rail. This...

Hello Naimees, I have been thinking of changing my n-sats for a pair of Ovator S-400 and finally found a 2011 pair in a very good condition for the price. Just wondering, knowing that longevity of speakers can be quite good in general, would Naim be able to service these in a few years still? As for the change, as much as I love the n-sats I am craving some more heft in the bottom end. Will probably still keep my n-sats though. I will be driving the S-400 with a SN2 (source is MacBook...

Hi, I am used to Naim amplifiers giving a little background hiss when powered up with no input signal. I bought a 2015 250.2 and this is what it does. It has a louder hiss than I am used to when turned on, after about 3 minutes the hiss gets louder, there is an audible click, and then it goes absolutely silent. Is this normal? I appreciate that many people will say to leave it on 24/7, but I am often away, we get power outages/storms, and I don’t want a risk of damage. It sounds superb, and...

Hi all, Not posting too often around here, and when I do, it's usually to complain about how tiring I find my system, with a sound that has too much "urgency" and doesn't let me relax. System is: Synology NAS -> rPi+Hifiberry Digi+ -> Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 -> Nait XS+FlatcapXS -> Linn K20 -> Dynaudio X36 The room is 4.5m x 4m, with plenty of soft furnishings. In the quest to make the system more bearable over the years, I have added bass traps, auditioned nDAC, tried...

So can i indulge in a bit of idle speculation! I'm a died in the wool Naim man so it's very unlikely that i'll leave the fold. BUT ... if ND555 rumour / speculation is to be believed (and of course no one outside of Naim really knows) then we may not see an updated NDAC alongside the new streamer. I can't be bothered with all of the computer audio router / NAS etc. business and i have various domestic broadband limitations which are likely to preclude a high end streaming anyway so i'm going...

Within the next two weeks I am switching away from active NBLs and trying a gently used pair of Wilson Sasha's, powered with a Nap 500DR with 552, Linn LP12 , CD555 , NDS all with appropriate power sources DRed , some of the source connects are SLs. I'm excited and hoping for a very coherent, soundstage, color and dynamics ,something that suspends disbelief as the music makes the speakers dissapear. I feel a bit apprehensive as I found there is no way to audition speakers without placing...

i am asking for advice about how to link up a unitilite and a pair of Dynaudio MC15 speakers which are quite old active speakers. I also have a pair of Kan Mk 1 and a supernait wirh an HDX in a different location. Is there any point linking up the unitilite to them? Ideas, please!

Ashamed to admit it but using the system to watch television a police car went past from left to right but the sound went from right to left! I have always had my channels round the wrong way! ???? Having just put them how they should be and started to listen to some music things sound so much better! Why should sound of improved so much following just the channels crossed? Thanks Popeye

I have a set of Allaes powered by active 135s. The system sounds great, but as with most of us I love a little tweaking here and there. On that subject are there any adjustments that can be made to the SNAXO in terms of the split between high and low etc. I believe they were originally set up for SBLs or is that nonsense?

Just joined the forum having built up my first set of Naim stuff over the last month. My interest in hi-fil goes back to the late 70s with a system built around a Heybrook TT2 turntable, But in the 80s and 90s I succumbed to the devil that is CDs and layers of dust hid the Heybrook. But all this changed in late 2015 when I fulfilled my adolescent's dream of owning a LP12. OK, it was a 1980 vintage model with no lid no base, basic PSU and welded sub chassis. But it come with a very nice...
