I need to get new din/xlr cables for the nap500. Don'twant to do superlumina yet (and not doing anything else fancy/expensive - will do superlumina eceneventu). Are the witch hat ones comparable in quality to standard naim ones? Anyone with direct experience?

Hello, I have Mu-so Qb connected to Samsung Tv (2012) via optical cable I bought from supermarket years ago. When I watched tv the sound, especially speech, had a kind of robotic tone in it. There was no dropout in signal. I got rid of the distorted sound when I separated the optical cable from other cables running wild behind the table my tv and Mu-so stands on. Does anyone think or know whether or not the pre amp line will be updated soon. Its been a while.

I have an Olive Nait 2 with the optional preamp out connection so that I can use it as an amplifier. If I do that, will the Nait 2 derive its power from its own internal power supply, or will it run off of the amplifier like the Naim preamps? As a temporary measure, I am considering running the Nait 2 with an old NAP160 BD, at least until I can find the right preamp for the 160. Will this connect correctly? Thanks.

The above has been without any problem until now. Its an early one and came with my 555 CD player from memory. The display has had a brain storm and is only just readable although it functions OK. I have replaced the batteries with no result. Still the same. Am I into a new display, if available? I currently have the very good Rega Planar 3/Elys2 (latest version from 2016) which I use with the Rega Fono MM phono stage. Hi, I’m a new Naim owner. This is probably a ridiculous question. I have a supernait’1’ and currently considering a cd5 second hand. However I would also like to stream and a radio. I was wondering if it is possible or, if it is a bad idea, to connect a unity to a supernait so that I get the superior sound quality of the supernait. I can’t afford lots of separates at the moment. So having read a few, quite a few really, posts on the value and impact of the above, even on mid range systems (thanks HH), I am faced with an unexpected choice - whether to stick with the standard interconnects and Chord Epic Twin, or go for a pre-owned SL DIN-XLR and a pair of SL speaker wires at what is an undoubtedly good price. Definitely not cheap, but much better than their original stratospheric cost...... Would I regret passing this wallet lightening opportunity to enhance my 272...

As I wait patiently for my new 500 DR to be delivered (and take out the NAP300), I can’t help wondering what should be my next step. Hi all, I had a Sky Q box system fitted yesterday. The main box and TV are in the same room as my system, a second mini box was also linked to a TV in a bedroom with a booster box. When I went to play some vinyl this morning there was a load buzz almost a growl! coming through both speakers which stopped when I switched the TV and Q box off at the mains, only to return when the box was activated, I have tried disconnecting the booster box which had no effect on the noise, my system is not on...

Third upgrade in - ATC SCM19's/Chord Epic/NAP 250.2 The 250.2 (ebay bargain) has been running for 4 hours now and I'm enjoying the benefits already. Looking forward to day 3 when full warm-up kicks in. I upgraded to the 250.2 from a 200 to better fit the ATC's. I read here and elsewhere that the NAC282 is a much better fit for the 250 than my current NAC202/Fluffytoy/NAPSC. Depending on how the current setup sounds after full warmup, I might consider improving the preamp. Thing us... all...

My current setup is 282 with HiCap dr/250dr/nDAC. I hv good offer for both 555ps (both dr n non dr). Which is a better choice for my nDAC? Some mentioned non dr is better for the dac but i wonder how a newer dr would not perform better. Many thx for your advice.

Just wondering... The length of NACA5 seems to be a critical factor in stabilising Naim amps, although less so in the current classic series. We all know that the minimum length is 3.5m; Richard recently posted that improvements can be heard if the cable is 5m or more, and 7m to 10m being optimal (I may be paraphrasing here). I have a NAP300, 555PS and Supercap 2 which will all require a service in the not too distant future All are non DR and the 300 was manufactured in 2005 whilst the two power supplies are from 2006. They were all purchased pre-loved so I am unsure how much use they have had but am pretty sure haven't been serviced since new. I had and sold a Supernait2/HiCap. I miss my SN2/HiCap and the Naim sound, so I'd like to get back into Naim and would love some advice/help. I started out thinking about just getting another SN2/HiCap but my dealer and I started talking about going a step or two up. As an upgrade to the SN2/HiCap, I am considering a NAC272/NAP250DR/XPS2DR. Would there be any benefit to getting NAP300DR instead of a NAP250DR? I'm planning on keeping this system for the long haul. How does one prevent a superline from having excess hum and buzz? Use a Linn/Llngo 1, all earthed. But the hum is worse when linn earth connected to superline! Could this suggest superline has a fault? A
