I wonder if the Uniti Nova has a Zobel network now. So it can be used with a wider range of LS cable?
So... (don't you just hate people starting sentences with "So..."?) If I swapped my NACA4 for NACA5, what qualitative difference would I hear? System is: Tidal lossless/Ethernet Cat7 cables/ND5XS /XP5XS/NAC202/NAPSC/Fluffy Toy/NAP200/Graham's Hydra/Isoblue rack/ATC SM19's on Quadraspire stands.
Hello Naim fans, I upgraded my set the last few years with Chord cables and about 6 months ago I serviced and DR’ed my 300 from 2006. Yes absolutely true... a lot changed in a positive way but the beautiful realistic midrange (vocals) from my SF are gone! They now sound so ‘unfriendly’ / cold... I really have lost the fun listening to my set My set: 300(2006 ->DR2017), 252, Supercap(non DR), CDS3, XPS2(non DR), VPI, Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage, Chord Sarum SC, Chord Sarum interlink (also...
Back in March this year I auditioned TQ Black Diamond Speaker Cables, they turned out to be extremely impressive. To cut a long story short I ended up, after a lengthy home audition, purchasing a Brand new set of the top of the range Silver Diamond Speaker Cables. Although they sounded good from the start, I have experienced a few lows from time to time over the weeks and months but gradually they have just got better and better. It’s been approximately 6 months now and ‘Wow’.....they are...
Hi all I came from having a Qute2 with the Kef R500’s to now a Nova with the R500’s. I don’t dislike the speakers and think they sound good and certainly much better with the Nova but now due to a room reconfiguration and a new sofa, the bottom driver of the right speaker is firing straight at the sofa arm. I am therefore debating a possible upgrade and maybe looking at stand mount speakers so the bottom drive unit wouldn’t interfere with the sofa. my room is approx 5m by 3.5 and the...
Hi all, I have followed cable threads conserning Super Lumina (SL) and Chords offers Signature TA (Signature, STA), Sarum T (and the older SA and TA) and Music with interest over the last year or so. I have Linn/LP12/urika with naim standard rca-din (lavender) and cds3/555dr with hiline (or std naim) into 252/300dr (std. cables) and Magico S1 speakers through Chord epic ref (or naca5). I have heard chord STA and SL interconnects in my system before service/dr and with previous dynaudio...
I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with which phono stage would would be the best fit for a Naim Nova & a Rega Planar 6 w/MC Cartridge ?
Evenin' all: Looking to pick up a used i-Supply i (for ipod) as a backup for my stageline. I see there are 3 versions: s to power the Naim Stageline phono preamplifier h to power Naim’s high quality headphone amplifier i to power or charge original Firewire-connected iPod models My question is: Is the i-Suppply itself the same for all three with the same 24v DIN plug and only the adapter different, or is the hard-wired 24 plug different for all three? The one I am looking at has the ipod...
Can the Core operate as completely self contained music ripper, storage facility and playback into suitable DAC? No need for NAS drives, switches etc? Also what is the max storage one can have onboard with a Core? Thanks
I have sold now my NDX and want to upgrade to NDS/555PS or Klimax DS/3. I have 252/ 300 / SL2 and I am still not shure, which is the better streamer for me. Both are used, nearly same price and are unmarked, like new. The NDS/555PS had the better bass performance for me, while the Klimax was better on details and space. Please help me with your advice, hopefully many had ever heard these two side by side. Laurence
What's the normal experience in having one's units DR'd? I have just found out today that my 500, shipped near end of October to Audio Plus, has not even opened the unit up, nor received the parts to perform the upgrade. It will be close to 5 months gone...anyone else have this experience?
I currently have a 122x / 150 / flatcap2 / cd5i / LP12 ekos/lingo, stageline, playing through Naca5 and SBL mk2s. The cd5i is redundant and I am thinking about ditching all the other naim boxes and the six shelf mana rack at the same time as well and replace with a uniti Atom. As I want to retain the LP12/lingo, how do I go about potentially powering the Stageline? I don’t fancy keeping the flatcap2 purely to power it as it kind of defeats the object of the box reduction exercise. Is the...
New speakers from Neat Acoustics to add to their expanding Iota family. They look like they could have potential! I’m only recently new to the Neat Iota party and was quite (very) impressed at the sheer scale of sound coming from such tiny boxes when I recently heard them, so this new addition to the range looks promising. Quite large in comparison to the rest of the range - A pumped Iota Alpha on steroids - woof (er) ! Dimensions are 74cm including spikes. Width 30cm, depth 22cm. From their...
(the/my) Wife's son appears to have made a horlicks over connecting an auxiliary cable (for an iPod) to his 202. There are only 2 devices in use on his 202, the record deck via a phonostage (an Artaxerxes) and a CD player. Aux2 is (normally) selected to RCA. for the deck. In error he connected the iPod to the DIN Aux2 input, noted that no sound came out and then tried to play a record; massive distortion. I have talked him through some fault-finding. All DIN sockets work. Cannot test the...
Before Xmas I purchased a twin base Naim Fraim for my system which had sat on an AV stand with my TV. Had to wait for the Xmas tree to go back to the box in the garage. Spent the morning redoing speaker cable run, on other side of the room, Fraim in position etc. Nova and NAP 300 took a few hours to come back on song, but have to say a much tighter, dynamic portrayal of my music. I bought this second hand from my dealer, a very good upgrade IMO.
A flying visit to report the following for anyone interested : I've been very happy with the SQ served up from Melco through my DAC's USB port. But, over xmas, having successfully upgraded my phono IC's, I wondered what a posh USB cable might do. I had an Entreq lead which was already a bit snooty but, whilst on a roll, acquired a 'Coffee' on demo'. It took roughly 60 seconds to be deeply impressed at the change wrought by this cable. After getting the excitement under control, I listened...

Having trouble deciding on whether I like the speakers pointing straight out ie. no toe in or some degree of toe in. Not sure I hear a difference and not sure what I should be looking for. Common wisdom is that it should make a big difference in sound stage, tonality etc. Any opinions, especially first hand experience with Sopras?
i am looking for a pair of high quality wireless speakers (bookshelf) with integral amplifiers to play Tidal, from laptop and from TV/video. The dynaudio range looks interesting. Budget is up to £2,000. Your views please and any other ideas
I am trying to understand the concept of a Mullet system. My understanding is that a Mullet has put significantly more resources into the speakers than electronics. I am not asking about the specific equipment I mention, but merely the idea of the different levels. For arguments sake my Source was about $2,300, my integrated amp was another $2,200. I am looking for speakers so it would make sense to be at abou $2,300 for a balanced system. Now to the question. Is balance about the $$ spent...
Naim or non Naim. Not really considering this but a recent thread got me thinking is there an integrated amp out there either Naim or by Vitus, Karan or one of the other quality hifi brands that would compare to my 282/300. When I traded my speakers in the guy selling them had quite an expensive and very powerful Swiss amp by Hegel that drove the big Dynaudios with ease but for me didn't have the fun factor of Naim but are there any other amps that do prat and have more power than my 300?
One for the (other) "old buqqers" on the forum......... In a couple of weeks I will be attending an AGM for one of my other hobbies at a venue in Salt Lane, so I've been trying to work out "where it all started". Going by an old photo on www.naimaudio.com/our-story and those fine Goggle Maps people, I think it's now the "Harbour Restaurant" (voted Best Fish and Chips in Wiltshire ). Can anyone confirm or otherwise?
How is it that you can own an amp that cost rrp. of over £10,000 speakers that cost rrp. £4,500 and a mid spec LP12 and have it struggle badly at party listening levels? We had friends over had a few too many drinks and cranked the music up, up until 20 to on the dial everything is sounding ok but at a quarter to things start to deteriorate and at 10 to sounds terrible. The guy I bought the speakers from used a Hegel H200 which still sounded the same right up to 12 on the dial so I know the...
Just moved for the second time (in 2017) and yesterday I played my first cd on the newly installed system. First observation: the CD player’s puck gently scraped the top of drawer opening when opening and closing the drawer. Played ok and didn't observe any other issues. I had the puck inside the drawer for transport and storage for two months. Not sure if that would cause the issue? Appears the laser mech in the transport platter itself is now sitting a bit high, which is causing the puck...
I have an all-Naim system. I have a Grahams Hydra with five outputs and I also have one Naim Powerline. I am currently using the Powerline on my DAC and I have one spare output on the Hydra. Would it be possible to connect the Powerline to the Hydra (I would take it back to Grahams for this), and would there be any benefit in doing it?
