Dear Forum I recently moved house and have packed all of my naim cardboard boxes away after setting up my system - which is sounding better than ever in its new home. I've also only kept one hand controller out (it came with the ND5 XS) as I tend to use the app for most things now. However, when I've powered up my SuperNait 2, it's display lights are all on. Is there a way of turning them off with ND5 controller, or do I need to dig out the SN controller? I know this is a daft question, but...
Has anyone out there used the Hannl Aragon RCM?
Anyone know whether this unit it any good? Will be hooked up to a 552/300. Any other Nat I should look out for instead? Apart from Naim - any other more current Tuners that anyone recommends to be hooked up to a 552? Mostly looking for something that can Tune well, and not throw noise into the mains...
hello! i have recently bought a ndx and would like to know if its a big difference between the hiline which i own now and the superlumina between my ndx and 252 preamp?? i have a supercap dr,250 dr .XPs2 not dr and won schweikert vr4 jr speakers and i have to say that im very pleased whit the sound.i also have the cdx2.2 and i have to say that the ndx in my opinion beats the cdx2.2,its much varmer sound with the ndx.also powerlines and musicline for the whole rigg. what exactly Wood the...
For those who are thinking this is the upgrade the right way to go, I can say that my advice is do it. The 202 is a fine machine but the 282 just takes the sound to the next level. LP-12/282/HC.200
Hallo Playmates. I'm unable to get an audio signal when plugging in a toslink cable from my Mu-so to DAC which connects to my Samsung television. I have set the speaker settings on my TV to external speaker and have it set to PCM. On the NAIM app I select 'Digital' but it says 'not connected. I've used a few Toslink cables but none seem to 'click' when pushing in. I have also tried using the 'input' on the Mu-so but still no joy. Am I missing something obvious? Any advice greatly received.
Hi all, My Classé CAP-2100 amp has RCA and truly XLR balanced inputs. Shoul I use a RCA to RCA cable (I have a 0.5 meters Nordost Red Dawn), buy a chord DIN to RCA Chorus 1 meter (available here in Portugal) or order a DIN to XLR? To my ears, the DAC V1 using my Sennheiser HD 600 is better than the Chord Hugo and 2Qute most people prefer in this forum, don’t know why and I use to go in a regular basis to classic concerts, being a piano player (a modest one, but one that can say when a...
First of all, are there any reason why it is not possible to sign in under my regular account? Since yesterday there is no way to sign in because my email adress is unknown.....strange so I post with my unused account.... Today I got a phone call from my dealer that the star just arrived. I am a happy guy because the original delivery date was mid of January. Right out of the box it's sound fantastic. Unfortunately I have the problem that the volume control on the unit doesn't work. Only by...
Some days ago i ordered a 3 stack custom-design milan rack, it will come this week. What do you think about that stacking order. Auralic Aries Femto////////////// Naim Dac XPS Dr ////////////// 252 Supercap /////////////// 250 Dr Unfortunately ???? i went this saturday to my dealer, who offered me a Nap 300 Dr and i can swap in my 250 Dr, but if i take it, i run short on floors at the rack, what do you think about that stocking order. Keep in mind that the Auralic has a seperate PS, which i...
Chaps, I'm taking a punt on a pair of nearly mint (one scratch) Ovator S400's second hand. The price and pick-up has been agreed (they are a bargain) and the idea is to partner these with my existing Supernait 2, CD5X and Flatcap 2X. Now I have read all the reviews and it's confusing to say the least as some are raving on them, others seemingly wouldn't give them houseroom!! So given that these are to replace a pair of naim Credos, which are supplemented for louder party listening by an...
Before you shoot me down for a thread I’ve seen touched on before, there are other factors prompting this query. My local Naim store has an ex-dem 500 non dr going, I have space on my rack for it and they agreed to part exchange my 300 dr for it making the prospect affordable. Upgrading to a 500 dr would not be in the foreseeable future (next 3 years) as I’m also considering getting wall based speakers in the new year. The sound is gorgeous now, with texture I never had before - but surely...
Probably just showing off my ignorance but I am curious to know if the crossover cables on the SL2 speaker would in any way limit the sound SQ/presentation if the amp to speaker cable is a Super Lumina (and what is the technical reason)? With the results I’m hearing from SL speaker cables currently on loan, I assume there is no limitation. The difference to the standard cable is goosebumps!
When they are mostly absent in live music.
I am thinking of adding a Power-Line to my SuperUniti and wanted to know if anyone here is using one with a SU, and if so, what kind of SQ improvement/change I can expect? Also I'm happy to consider other alternatives. I know Naim now has the new Power-Line Lite as well, but not found many reviews, or comparisons. Thanks.
In a few weeks I’ll replace my SN2/HiCapDR with new NAC252/SuperCapDR/NAP300DR system. The whole system will be: - Audiophilleo + nDAC + 555PSDR (main source) - CDX2 (transport) - NAC252/SuperCapDR/NAP300DR. Unfortunately, I have one rack only. This means I’ll have to stack 2 boxes on the bottom shelf All shelves are 2cm thick glass. What would be the better combination? [ Combination A1 ] CDX2 ============ nDAC ============ NAC252 ============ 555PS ============ SuperCap ============ NAP300...
I'm using Super Lumina speaker cables with banana plugs into the Sopra-3. They tend to be rather loose and not snug at all. Is this a problem? Should I have gotten spade endings?
Hi all, I am tearing my hair out trying to get some sound out of my newly acquired system; please could someone walk me through which/what connections go where. I am trying to connect a Supercap + HDX + Supernait Mk1); I also have a Naim nDAC but don't know if it will fit in with or even benefit the system. Naim's connection guide is not helping at all.
Dear friends, I am thinking of a small experiment involving my good old sonos connect. Before I even dare it, I want to make sure I will not blow something up :-) I am thinking of linking my sonos connect like this: Sonos Connect optical / coaxial out (volume set to variable) => Naim Dac V1 (Fixed volume) => Nap power amplifier The intention is use the Sonos volume control and at the same time take advantage of the Naim Dac chain. Will this work? Thanks
My recent upgrade from Dynaudio Xcite 32 to Contour S3.4's has been the best to date and has pulled all the parts of my system together into a really great sounding unit. Through necessity I sold off some cables and have discovered that system synergy is everything be it CB, Olive, early Classic series (like mine) or late DR'd Classic series. My 282/300 amp units were all built within a few months of one another and all cables are now original I now only have two more pieces of the puzzle to...
Hi everyone, I'm really loving my new Atom, using it with my Naim Credo's (external crossover) with NACA5 cable. This weekend I was in Bay Bloor in Toronto and heard the Atom with some B&W speakers and it was amazing. All the instruments and the clarity have me wondering if my Credos just are not right or maybe they are damaged. It would be hard for me to think they are damaged though because I'm getting the same sound out of both of them. So.....just curious to some entry level speakers...
dear naim folks, so it's been almost a year when i upgraded my system and currently reside with my ndx/282/2x hcdr/250dr/pmc fact.8 (see my last thread where you guys helped me a great deal http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/supercap-dr-or-250dr-upgrade-on-282-to-improve-bass-weight-and-soundstage?page=1 ). it sounds wonderful and even my wife said that she didn't notice much of a difference compared to a concert we've visited lately (and she really doesn't care about hifi at all)... so time...
Most people seem to still rave about the LP12 and I once owned one, way back in the 90’s before going totally digital - but kept all my records!! Things have obviously moved on in the past 20 years and the American VPI seems to get fantastic reviews - claiming the deck offers far more value than its Scottish equivalent. I now want to get back into playing my vinyl and I have narrowed down my choice to either; 1. Linn LP12 Majik $5k or Akurate $10k 2. VPI Prime $7.5k or Prime Signature $10k I...
I was repositioning my system and noticed that the plastic cap on the 272 side of my bunny moves/twists and the other end appears locked into position by the collar. Assuming that this is not correct what is the right tool for tightening the collar? Any tips around tension would also be gratefully received
I realize I have a real mutt of a system with regard to the gear's primary 'country of origin'. Individual parts come from all over the world (especially microchips), but a maker's overall stamp has a country associated with it. Stating the various countries of origin of your hybrid system is the goal of this topic: For me US, New Zealand, Britain, Germany, Japan. US - speakers, TT stylus, power strip, mains cables, wall socket New Zealand - Integrated amp and phono stage Britain -CDP, TT,...
