Hi to everyone I've stripped my hifi today, tightened the legs on my rack and plugged and unplugged the cables and same with powerlines then I dressed all cables the best I could and managed to get all cables off the floor and just left the powerlines on the floor dead neatly what a difference it has made to the sound quality.

I hope I have posted this in the correct forum... and at the risk of missing any obvious answers, here goes.. Whilst spending a really nice afternoon with my 19yr old son ( who doesn't live with me) he has discovered my 172/250.2 system and spent ages going through loads of my music library...even surprising me with his choices of songs! He called it a 'magic box' and this got me thinking. I have an old NAD 3020 amp and some JPW bookshelf speakers in the attic doing nothing. My question is...

I am chuckling as I write this, because it’s because the 552 allows greater insight into the recording. I am playing a wonderful album: Lera Lynn - Out to Sea (from The Avenues) The bass goes even deeper than what the 252 did - which is great, BUT there’s now a resonance with some furniture (I think), when a certain note plays. Never had that before. I honestly thought I had my system and listening room optimal, but a better pre amp has blown that out of the water. Actually, the chuckling...

Hi chaps. Just brought a lovely second hand supernait 2 to partner a CD5X. Now my question is, can anybody help on what sort of snaic I need to connect the two units?? I think it's a five pin to five pin but looking online there seems to be a 270 and 180 degree pin configuration??? For the moment I have been using a Din to RCA cable I had in a drawer (Din out of the CD5X into RCA pair into the Supernait) but I'd like to partner the two up 'properly' as I assume I'm not getting the benefits...

Don't worry guys it's not another loading question. Can any of you lovely lot tell me what plugs would have come with my Superline? I have one with the value label missing and wondered what it's value was. I thought if I email customer support and get a list of the plugs that would have come with my Superline I could find out the value of said plug by elimination. So I emailed customer support and Steven Hopkins replied with a list of plug values that only vaguely resembled my set of plugs.

Hi Guys, looking for some more advice please, in my current setup I have a flat cap xs powering my 152/155 pre & power and an original flat cap (not xs) powering my cd5xs, I would like to add a headphone amp and have seen a headline NAHA-2 rca for sale, will my origin flat cap (not the flat cap xs) power this ok and would I need a Slic cable? Also is this the old version of the headline and does anyone have experience of sound quality-I’ve just brought some Audeze LCD-XC headphones...

Hello, I'm quite new to the forum and would like to know if anyone of you has ever compared a 272/555DR with NDX/XPSDR/282 or NDS/555DR/282 yet? I'm owning a 272/555DR/250DR and thinking about my next step. For me it's also quite interesting to follow the conversations about 272/300DR as my knowledge was source first. I really like the 272 with all it's features and since upgrading with a 555DR I'm enjoying it even more. But I know what NAIM is capable of so I'm thinking about upgrading to a...

I am thinking of trying a Naim amp again and I can buy a good used and serviced Supernait at a reasonable price or I could buy a new or lightly used XS2 I only use cd so the inbuilt Dac in the Supernait might come in handy Do the two amps sound much the same? Thanks for any help

My system for the past 10 years has been CDX2, XPS2, Supernait, HiCap, and a HiLine, feeding Audiovector Mi3 Super speakers. This has been enjoyed in 3 homes. And great enjoyment it has brought. But the march of streaming and hi-res music has added features that a CD-based system cannot match. I have resisted a change for a number of years because I didn't feel that an App could do what I couldn't just as easily do with a short walk to the cupboard, namely find a favourite CD. My wife and I...

Just been over on the excellent Audiobeat site and in their Blog section Roy Gregory gives his thoughts on incorporating Wilson's new Hammer sub woofers with the new Alexx loudspeakers.Iniatially he was useing VTL monoblocks with great results but being 12 miles from the factory borrowed 4 Statement monoblocks !! Very nice review.Could'nt help but think how much weight was on the floor - the subs alone weighed 412 lb' s each.....as for the statements.Great pictures.....Well worth having a look.

Hi Naim Audiophile, I just have a 152XS (used) and looking for a power amp. Any advice on below combination, in term of sound and money? 1. NAC 152xs + NAP 200 (used) + Flatcap xs (used) 2. NAC 152xs + NAP 200 (used) + HiCap DR (used) 3. NAC 152xs + NAP 200 DR (new) Thank you in advance, Eddie

A trip down memory lane reminded me of the rather unusual-looking Rogers db101's. A clothes shop I worked in while in college had over 20 of them driven by a rack of Crest amplification... Was just wondering if any forum users heard or used them on Naim equipment? I remember them sounding great on electronic and dance in particular.

after looking to upgrade the Hawks for about 4 months and finding nothing so far i can afford and not much i like even for more than i can pay, i'm thinking of buying a couple Totem Kin subs to augment the Hawks. i don't know much about them or subs for that matter and there are not many reviews to read out there for them. what i'm wondering is, with all the benefits of running a hi level sub like less strain on the main amp and main speakers what are the drawbacks? i really love my system...

This is something to be aware of with any new Loudspeaker purchase or if you have owned a pair for several years. Following a visit to a Forum member and a strong suggestion that he wanted his system set-up looked at I ventured forth and had a listen. This was a good spec system: NDS-2x555DR PS, 552 DR - 500 DR (on two Fraim stacks) - Ovator S600. It all sounded nice but a bit lack-luster, so we proceeded with some set-up changes. 1. Ensure Brawn and Brain stacks are implemented. This was...

I know it's a Linn, but many of us have one of these in our setup. So just a query. I have a Linn Ittok LV11 fitted to my LP12, when I line it up to lower itself onto the vinyl, once released it runs off on its descent, as opposed to gently settling in a straight downward descent, (if allowed to go full full travel would go outside of the disc, so roughly 3 - 5mm throughout its travel). I have to line it up to compensate for this and watch it all the way down. It's is otherwise working...

Hopefully not a stupid question. Is it purely for diagnostics and setup? Is it a historic thing? Has anyone ever heard of a system where it's not set at 12 o'clock? Even the NAC552 has one when my understanding of its raisin d'etre was to switch inputs and adjust volume while doing as little else possible to a low level signal from the source before passing it on to a power amplifier(s). Does the Statement have a balance control?

I'd like the forums' thoughts regarding turntables. I'm not necessarily planning on making a turntable change in the near future, but I am curious as to the following: I currently have a Linn Axis with Linn Akito arm and Rega Bias cartridge. What would the roughly equivalent current day Rega turntable be? I recognize that my current cartridge is the weak link. I wasn't listening to a lot of vinyl a few years ago when I had to replace the worn Linn K9(?) cartridge I had. If I were to upgrade...

We are getting an extension built and the plan is to site my speakers either side of an opening. Our current plan is to have a conduit installed under the floor so I can run existing cables (TQB) under the floor across the opening. An electrician bidding for the work has offered up wall mounted speaker terminals as a neat solution to my proposed '2 small holes in the floor joined by an under floor conduit' approach. The proposal would include 4 wall mounted terminals in all with the run...

With a lot of talk about upgrading from XPSDR to 555 on a 272, I just wondered if anyone had tried a Supercap? I guess only half the 555 would be used on the 272 when using the one burndy connection? So how would a Supercap compare performance wise?
