High end cables must be the most popular christmas gift of 2017 judging from all the topics lately. so here’s another one..Can I really use Din to RCA cables and sleep tight knowing that I get the most out of my SN2, surely this must defeat the very purpose and benefits of using DIN in the first place? I understand there’s also some DIN adapters available so you can connect whatever RCA of choice, worth trying?

So after a few days with the Nova, I've signed up for the great de-boxing of our living room. We will shortly be waving goodbye to the 202/200/NAPSC and adopting a minimalist Nova + Neat Iota Alpha speakers set-up. Very enjoyable on it's own terms and not so far from the multiple boxes. I'm keeping the CDX2 and Contours (or possibly a Special Forty upgrade) for redeployment elsewhere with a yet to be sourced non-Naim integrated amplifier. I've really enjoyed the 202/200 (sounding great...

Just got myself a CB Naim Nait 2. This example was serviced earlier this year. Only switched the unit on today. Sounds very detailed and tight. Hoping the sound will smooth a little bit more over the next few days. My Rega Apollo-R CD Player, is connected to the AUX input......Perfect. The Tuner and Tape inputs, I simply don't use. But when I select with the input selector knob to either of the two unused inputs, I get a humming/buzzing sound which is in sync with the volume. The buzzing...

I bought a 2015 NAP 250.2 recently. I am used to Naim power amplifiers providing a very low whisper when no signal is present. This one, on power up, is quite noticeable and takes about 10 minutes to decay away. Is that normal? Anything to worry about? To be fair, after 10 minutes it is virtually silent and much quieter than my previous NAP 200.

As a long time lurker but virgin poster, please be gentle! Currently CDX/82/Hicap/250, all olive. LP12 vinyl source. Have a streaming itch which may need scratching but would appreciate some thoughts from the hive mind on options. My current thinking is to go n272 as a first step and either add an XPSDR or opt for 272/250DR, with a PS at a later date, poss s/h. How does the 272 preamp stack up against my old 82/Hicap. Does it need the PS to outperform it, as I'm concerned it could...

I hope it’s ok to post this question but can anyone suggest a suitable supplier for a replacement Fraim glass shelf. Genuine Naim shelves are expensive at £187 each and I wonder if there are any good alternatives without compromising on sonic or cosmetic quality. Thanks Bob

I just opened my Olive Hicap to find the original LM317 regulators have been removed along with the with the green circuit board they were attached to. In their place are two different looking regs. One is a small black square that reads 47JZ LM 317T P+ and a 2nd reg that is on a small thin green circuit board that I cant read. It does say Ultra Low noise 78XX. The Hicap sounds reasonable --no distortion normal bass and treble but should I be concerned? Should both regs be the same? Is one...

Hi there Thanks for the add. This is my first ever post. I'm relatively new to Naim. I've inherited an LP12 and a vintage Naim nac 22 / Nap 120 combo. The amps are the ones assembled in NZ under licence. They date from circa 78 though were out of action (as in not used at all) for a long time. I'm running them into some SBL Mk IIs Separately I have an opportunity to buy a U.K made 42.5/110 combo for $1000 Aus. I've auditioned them and they do sound richer, fuller and more detailed and alive...

Is my logo faulty or does the 102 require the original napsc? Thanks.

I have done a search and could not find if an SBL Passive Crossover can be used on Allae Speakers. Will this work. I do believe the SBL crossover is the same as the Allae Speakers as well as other models. Do you know if this is correct? I know the SL2 will work on SBL. Thanks in advance.

My system includes NAP 300-DR, soon to be delivered NAC 552-DR, CDS3/555-DR,PS and Spendor SP100R2 speakers, above sit on two Fraim stands, one dedicated for PS. Current cabling & interconnect are basic Naim gear. In looking long-term it seems I should seriously consider investing in cables and interconnects if only based on broad articles and some personal feedback, though my own casual listening has been uneventful. As Naim follower my first consideration would be Super Lumina cables...

I got my much anticipated new Nova a couple of days ago and very good it is too. The only problem is a slight hum coming from the unit (not the speakers). It is audible from a few feet away when the Nova is on, or in standby. As the box is put into “deep sleep” the absence of the hum is in someways when it is most noticeable, if you know what I mean. The hum is there with or without inputs or speaker connections and from different mains sockets. I have contacted Naim and my dealer (the “hum...

Much discussed topic, I have recently upgraded the mains spur for my hi-fi room, changing both the cable and the wall sockets. The difference it made was not subtle. Anyone who is suffering from grainy or harsh sound should IMHO look at their mains supply before changing or upgrading other aspects of their system. I spent quite a bit on money on this latest upgrade but I’m absolutely certain that the same amount of money spent elsewhere in my system would not bring anything like the same...

I have an Olive xps- it has always been warm to the touch compared to my other olive boxes- 135s, supercap, 52, 01 and 01 power supply. Has not been serviced for awhile but even after service it was always warmer than other boxes. Any thoughts? concerns? david

Last Friday afternoon, J.N visited me to share and play some music on my system. Although my listening room (actually, office) is somewhat small -- this turned out not to be a real issue and so we had a lovely afternoon mostly spinning vinyl -- John brought some of his records and we played through them. john has what i would describe as an encyclopedic knowledge of various musicians and also very interesting background knowledge to some of the tracks we played -- for example, Jethro Tull's...

I have not really upgraded in the right order, but I am happy with my current setup and so the crime feels less heinous. Let’s ignore the source for now, I have Naim 282 with NAPSC into a 250.2 supported by a well regarded PSU. The resulting ‘noise’ goes through NACA5 into Dynaudio Focus 160s. It sounds rather good. My source is a Bluesound Node 2 via optical to a Chord Mojo. I like the Bluesound for its convenience and the Mojo is a step up from my previous DAC. The Mojo gets some fans, but...

Uniti range hits the market with a 10% price rise as of today. Something to do with the global economy and the state of the pound. Got to protect the profit margin don't you know.

For example, you may have an NDX with an nDAC and a 555PS or an HDX with an nDAC and a 555PS or even an NDS with 2 x 555PS. You might think it a waste of time, but hearing each upgraded version of your source is nonetheless fascinating. Especially when the sound quality is now viewed from a different angle. For instance, an active Statement owner views lesser equipment as compressed perhaps, but a user of a NAC202 hearing a NAC252 feels the panoramic expanse open up. Anyway, as you can tell...

I am using an audioquest 3.5mm to twin RCA adapter, then Atlas Equator III into my NAC282. It works, but it has been commented that it is not ideal It is possible to get cables with a 3.5mm to twin RCA connection e.g. from Chord or Flashback. Would I notice any difference going to, for example, the Flashback performance cable?

Whilst glancing occasionally at other forum members' profiles (at least those who bother to populate them with details of their hifi), whilst following contributions to various threads I have noticed quite a few who seem to own the exact opposite of what I understand a mullet system to be. That is extremely expensive, well specified sources and amplification, often with top of the range interconnects and cables, but all leading to, by comparison, pretty cheap and cheerful loudspeakers, often...

Wow! Well kind of! I purchased a new supernait 2 about a month ago. Funny thing is this is not my first Naim gear, I actually bought a 2nd hand Naim CD player about 6 years ago and was impressed enough to start looking for a Naim amp, but I got talked into ditching the Naim CD player and buying a PS Audio Perfect Wave DAC which I did and still have it happily and it pairs really well with the Supernait 2 I must say. But after quite a few changes in equipment over the last 12 months I was...

Checked my emails - looks like I've had the kudos Super 20s about four years now. Stellar speakers. Really have no idea where I would go from here - they're about as big a speaker as I would want. Maybe it's time for the 500? Will it be wasted on the super 20s? Would that be a pointless upgrade given that I don't think I'll be upgrading the speakers anytime soon? Current system - NDS/552/300- all DR except the 300. Seems a little pointless to upgrade the 300 to DR spec - but If that's where...

Got NBLS love them, right now I want to either DR my three 250s, Or wait a while and get three 300DRs love my 552/DRed ,NDX,CDx2, LP12 this thing rocks hard, plays string quartets, singers come alive it gets better all the time better little changes in my listenroom like the addition of two corner bass traps - cohearent bass ,better timing more aliveness.....isn't this what drives us to find improvements the money is insane but it's worth it. Well worth the magic !
