Hi I would like to buy my Dad a new pair of headphones for Christmas, his old pair [about 30 year old Pioneers] being somewhat past it with numerous repairs over time. I want to stick to wired and closed back type. They will either be driven by his laptop [itunes or internet radio], Pure internet/DAB radio and, occasionally TV. I have been looking at the Senheiser HD448/449 model, seems well designed and good quality. Are there any others I should seek out before I push the "BIN" button?

Anyone had experience or evidence of the effect of domestic solar panel installs on sound quality. This is the system that generates DC produced by the photovoltaic panels and is then converted to AC & either used by the property or the surplus sold back to the electricity supply. As we all get excited over the pros & cons of dedicated spurs, mains pollution, filters & enhancers; what do thesesystemsdo to the mains voltage stability & the sine...

Hi all, This question has to be asked, because I imagine one's ability to discern fine sound diminishes as one gets older.  I understand hearing higher frequency decreases as one ages, so once savings permit a comfortable purchase of the...

Apologies if this topic is not appropriately placed. I have just come to renew my home insurance which is currently with Direct Line and as usual the premiums continue on there inevitable climb skywards. I visited a broker to look at alternatives to be informed that as the owner of various Hi Fi and AV which from new would have cost around £18,000.00 (most is not new and some is a good 5-6 years old that i would need specialist insurance with an obviously higher premium as the "standard"...

As much as I like OS X and the whole apple computing experience, I find windows 7 to be quite a good operating system, find myself quite indifferent which one I use. Both are equally good. Is windows finally catching up to OS X? Of course...

whichever way you look at today's date, it remains the same. doesn't matter if its back-to-front or upside-down, it still reads 11.11.11 (ok, the .... bits do move up/down, but you get the idea) I specifically recall 18.11.81 being...

My son, within just two days of passing his driving test, has managed to smash the drivers door mirror on our mk4 VW Golf, God bless him! I asked our local garage what the cost to replace the plastic housings, mirror glass and spray the parts, as they only come primed. The cost will be a very staggering £230.00. As our son will be paying for his damage caused this does seem a bit on the very steep side. I’m sure the garage will be using genuine VW parts and do a top job, but £230.00…! Does...

Way back when, we used to have to que / send cheques / wait in endless phone queues, and get something paper based in return. Non of your download bar code and we will charge you £30.00 for the pleasure of using our site and credit card rubbish here. Bit of a musical journey from 1977 till slightly later. I'm willing to bet plenty here were at some of these same gigs / tours. Had an idea to create something in a frame for the music room so went rummaging in the loft. Feel a whole lot older...
