Padded Cell
Browsing a few posts today regarding service, I noticed that there are quite a few reputable and respected dealers and service specialist which hardly get any mention on the forum. Forgive me if this this has been discussed before but I began to wonder what criteria Naim use to award the “authorised” tag to these specialists?
Could somebody please help me getting in contact with Lark ie Karl. Peter has my mailadress. Cheers Franz
Yes, I can not believe it but I am opening a thread about our Meghan. Since no one else has bothered I take that as maybe a hint that no ones bothered or that everyone's got their head in the sand. I don't really want to invite criticism of royal spectacle, but would be interested in what others think. To me it reminds me of hifi that looks great on paper but disappointing when auditioned.
I recently placed an order for a VW Golf GTI 7.5 and ticked the Dynaudio "Excite" option on the basis that it'll at least be loud but wondered if anyone here has one, has any experience of them and whether it's possible to hook up an Astell&Kern or similar and play FLAC files? Cheers Dave
An academic question this is, spanning across all domains. Every one of you and me has done this - perhaps daily. So WHY? (It was spurred by reading a newspaper article about why teachers leave the profession. Surveys said 60+ hrs a week, which I know is a big exaggeration, even though my fingers on the pulse fully aware of the pressures teachers are under, having been one for 15 years in three institutions.) I have a theory but I await what others may say.
Hi This is the reason for why I leave communitys. There isn't a possibility to leave without asking and in this case, I cannot find mail to admin. I wan´t to pause my membership but I can´t find any way to do it. Regards Peter
I've looked all over but can't find anything about posting 'For Sale' threads Are these allowed ?
I seem to be having difficulty in importing a downloaded album (Radiohead OKNOTOK - I bought the blue vinyl and tho is the included download) into iTunes. I downloaded the album on my WIN7 Thinkpad, converted it to ALAC then stuck it on a USB stick to move over to my Macbook Pro where I then dropped the folder into the iTunes Automatic Add folder. Normally this works just fine for moving ALAC files around but in this case it doesn't work, I just get an Error 43 dialog box. 5 tracks seem to...
Tiolet rolls ! Some have evidence that the perforations were designed so that the sheet separates when the roll runs over. Some have theories that the weight of a full roll lends more to run under. How do you fellow rollers run ?

I have a Canon Pixma MG7150 printer. the problem began by not printing all pages, now I find it won't print any pages. When I select print, the printer wakes up and sound like it's getting ready to print but it only spits out blank sheets of paper with no information printed on them. The ink supplies are all ok and I have just installed the latest printer drivers on my mac from the Canon website. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ken
In response to Joppe's topic in the Hi-Fi-Corner... I've never compared Mogami W2549 directly to a Highline, however it is a very considerable improvement over the standard 'Lavender' cable and the standard DIN 4 to XLR cables for a 300DR. Yes the W3106 is very similar to W2549; in fact it's basically dual W2549 (same construction and materials and almost the same electrical properties, just slightly thinner). And yes you're right I suggest that cable as it's to connect two phonos to a...

Carrying on from... OK Mike, the Klotz MC5000 has arrived, and well, it could be a microphone cable but it's heavy enough to be a towing cable for an oil platform (OK, maybe that's a slight exaggeration!). Fortunately it's actually quite flexible. Still not got the connectors yet, so I'll have to wait a little while before trying it out. Watch this space:- " ". E

Ok after a daytime burglary we looked into some quick but smart security upgrades - focus here is on the tech not the door/window upgrades (but did them also). Anyway wanted thoughts on what others have or are thinking of doing, but to share where i ended up, note the focus for me was elderly parents at home and also security peace of mind, but ease of install was a must (DIY - Ring Pro was a nightmare to install). Outdoor cameras = Netgear Arlo Pro 2 x2, motion and zone detection with...
Hello, my first post on the forum. This is definitely my forum category! Wondering if anyone knows anything about how naim managed such an incredible system for Bentley, which runs off a car battery? I know they managed to reduce the size to that of a 420 watt amp, but retaining 1100 watt output! Incredible. How did they manage to run that off a battery though? Thanks, Tom
Whilst sat flicking through YouTube as I waited for my children to fall asleep last night, I came across some videos discussing Dirty electricity and in particular, plug in filters that are claimed to reduced high frequency noise on the mains. It claimed that there are health benefits to be gained by reducing this noise. Does anyone have any experience with these plug in devices?
I want to get some advice from the consumer experts amongst the Naim forum masses. We purchased a new washing machine 18 months ago from a well known on-line retailer. the machine comes with a 2-year warranty. Over a month ago it started failing to finish a cycle giving an error code signifying a failure to drain. We called the repair hotline and, so far, four different engineers have had a look at it and replaced the pump and other items but the machine still will not drain at all. My...
Installed High Sierra this evening. Now my Canoscan LIDE 700F scanner doesn't work any more. Checked Canon website - no driver available for my scanner with High Sierra. Looks like I might have to buy a new scanner or revert to Sierra. Think I'll check how to 'go back' to Sierra. Just a little (well, a lot) angry about this. Canon obviously think I and other users should junk a perfectly good scanner and buy a new one.
I'm just about to revisit my contract terms with BT. My needs are quite simple (I think) in that: Have Sky via dish (inc Sports at discounted rate post their menu re-cut) + access BT Sports HD pack too Have and use moby (not an i-phone) on 'cheap' terms for daytime calls - landline is rarely used during the day. Incoming callers appear to be on unlimited deals via various providers - and can dial a moby without penalty it seems. Most of my contacts/friends now seem to be calling from their...
A rare treat: If the dawn sky on Monday 13 Nov is clear & it is forecast to be clear over all England & Wales, Scotland & NI have light cloud & maybe a few breaks. Venus & Jupiter will rise showing in very close conjunction. They rise 1.4 hours before the Sun & if you leave it too late then the sky will be too bright to see them. Twilight will be a good time; around 06:35 in the south, 06:50 in the north of England & after 07:00 for Scotland & NI.
This group of relaxed people is me, Silvia, Hilary and Mr Fish. The pic was taken on the roof of the Duomo in Milano, among tourists and statues, spires and breathtaking panoramas. The sky was blue, the weather perfect and Mr Fish was referring insistently to lunch since some minutes. I post it here as a souvenir from a nice day, and to prove that both HH and me are able to look content. HH was wearing super shoes; and don't be fooled by this forum – I am a pure stinker, and he's a very nice...
