Like many I use adblock when smurfing, for all sorts of reasons but primarily in aiming to preserve my cool when trying to scroll down a web page which otherwise refuses to budge while it's loading up all the Gifs pushing stuff I have no interest in whatsoever. This morning I noticed some ads on a (Corporate) site I visit occasionally and I thought 'Hello?', saw a little logo on the ads described as 'adrecover' which led to this. Time to mobilise some troops ADP...

I live in a rural area but about a year ago we had "high speed internet" made available, and very good it is too. However, initially BT didn't point out that it was, in their view, not quite high enough speed to get 4k TV. From what I've read you need about 30mb/s for 4k tv, although BT tend to say 50mb/s depending who you connect to when enquiring - but again I've read that this is only because BT are worried that in a family where there are lots of TV's, online games etc the higher speed...

What percent of people in the world would be content their Internet search history was known?

I have been on a couple of other sites and I see they have a section in their site or forum where they have a section dedicated to explaining the same common questions people have regarding their kit, and also advice on room acoustics, speaker placement and the like. So often I have seen here the same questions come up, yet not often does a Naim engineer explain their gear. eg, transformer hum , causes and cures, amplifier clipping and speaker compression, amplifier power-I have official...

Yes, we have far too few threads about cycling in the padded cell. And here is another. The world championship is taking place the next weekend in my hometown of Bergen, and will last for over a week. I hope the moderators will allow a link to the official site of the championship: Official site of the 2017 Cycling World Championship

Some of your old and favourite apps(32bit) are not compatible with the new(64 bit) update and will not be supported by Apple. To check if your apps will be supported go to Settings>>General>>About>>Applications and you will see a list of the ones which currently have no updates available. I'm sure Naim are on the case but you may have some old apps lurking in the background. Check them out...

Given we have HiFi Corner and the padded cell ... aren’t the other forums rather dully named. Can I propose a change to “Streaming Alley” and “Home Theatre Hovel”. Other suggestions welcome :-)

If so, be aware that there is a pretty good chance that at some point in time you will lose your Internet 'Favourites' in Edge, so please make sure you back them up regularly. I have been a user of Microsoft Edge for some time now, and have quite liked it on the whole. However, following a very recent Windows 10 Update, I discovered that my Internet 'Favourites' in Edge (built up over a year or so ago) had simply disappeared. Unfortunately, while I do back up everything on my PC I deem to be...

IS IT TIME FOR THE WEST TO PACK ITS NATO AND US FORCES AND KISS AFGHANISTAN GOODBYE? After the invasion to Afghanistan in 2001, going through sixteen years of fighting at varying degrees, conducting a surge, constant training of the local government security forces and a few elections it seems like everything has already been tried with very little effect not counting the large number of casualties (over 26,000 civilians and more than 3400 Coalition soldiers killed). So, would it be better...

The September tournament started yesterday, the perfect antidote for those trying to recover from the boredom of the Tour of Britain. No need to wait 3 hours for something to happen, most bouts are over in a few seconds. I’ve watched three tournaments and still learning what it’s all about. You’d be surprised at the speed, agility and skill of some of the wrestlers. This tournament seems wide open, three of the four Yokozuna ranked wrestlers are absent, injured, including the virtually...

Perusing the BBC news site this morning I happened upon a piece all about the last remaining Howard johnson's restaurant. This came as something of a shock to me as I recall they were everywhere you looked if you travelled by car around the US during the 1970s. Their distinctive orange peaked roofs were just as distinctive as the growing number of large yellow gold Ms signifying a McDonald's, and as children we used to have choose one or other and have competitions as to how many we could...

Hi All, After fifteen years as a staff photographer on a regional newspaper I have been made redundant. My last day is Friday 14th July. I'm 56, a biochemistry graduate, with ten years to run on my mortgage. I'm single and I live alone. I'm also pretty terrified. I've looked back and found a thread here posted by Kevin-W from about fifteen years ago. consequently I've bought and read the allegorical Who Moved My Cheese? I get it but do I want to do more photography? To help me find an answer...

Just spent a frustrating couple of days sorting out a problem with Apple Mail on my iMac. I have a BTinternet account, which is (of course) basically Yahoo. For the last couple of years there has been no problem, but on Saturday I logged in to print off an email which SWMBO had forwarded to me. Lo and behold, Mail says password invalid etc. So, I reentered the PW, which didn't cure the problem. Checked on my iPhone and iPad - current emails OK. Could still log in to my BTinternet emails via...

Dear all I need to get a good external mic (one that sits on the camera hotshoe) terminating either in a mini jack or mini USB. To be used for filming YouTube clips and ambient sounds/ibnterviews etc - doesn't have to be super hi fi quality but obviously much better than the camera's built-in mic. I have about £200 to spend - absolute max. Any help appreciated! Thanks x

Hi, I have at present 4 mk unswitched sockets on the ring main powering the hifi.I am in the planning stages of installing a seperate cu and running a cable to the 4 sockets to have a dedicated supply for the hifi.I would like to use the 4 sockets for neatness rather than using 1 + a power block.I have read that 10mm2 cable is the way to go but would be pretty much impossible to daisy chain the sockets due to cable thickness. The run from the new cu to the sockets is about 8.5 metres. would...

Love the look of the new Bentley Continental. Available, of course, with the superb Naim system. Or now with a cheaper system from Bang and Olufsen (aka Harmon aka Samsung).

Hi guys,I think my"investigating"for a new bike has come to the end.I'm purchasing this Bottecchia Lite Cross 320 for 6oo Euro or so.It has all the carachteristics I'm looking for:the main one is the position on the saddle which is way better then my MTB.I'm suffering for a protrusion of an L vertebrae and a little hernia in the cervical zone...But I also think this bike will perform well on easy cross-country as well on the road ,that are the usual conditions in most of my rides.A frien...

System Pics, led ably each year by HH, is suddenly full of demands from Photobucket to upgrade to their 500 service at a cost of 400GBP per year ! Well I'm sorry you lot, but I 'ain't paying four hundred smakeroos each year just you can see my audio setup! So I have to ask.. "Who's got the solution?" Where do we go as a free alternative to Photobucket? Roger
