Does anybody have any experience as the effectiveness of fitting a UV filter to a Canon DSLR.My understanding is that some DSLR’s have built in UV filtration at the sensor or in the lens. How effective is it on a 40D/EFS 17-85mm.Thanks

Five years ago I made a couple of bird boxes and installed a b&w camera in each. The cameras are linked to our TV and provide live footage to one of our channels. Each year since, we've had blue tits nesting in spring and they use them for winter shelter. This year she laid 7 eggs, but only 6 hatched. Three weeks on and only 3 chicks survive.
