Padded Cell
Not another case of a Unitiserve HD failure. Rather I would like to praise Sean Bean's gritty drama about the travails of a Catholic priest up North. Excellent fare and the kind of thing that at one time I feared the Beeb had abandoned altogether. Ray
Great BBC4 Documentary on just now. G
Horrible misappropriation of the moment... G
Test decider tonight. It's been 80 years since the ABs lost a series after winning the opener, and they haven't lost at Eden Park for 23 years. The Lions have done better than some of the media here suggested they would, including winning more than two games. Packed stadium, with half of them Lion's fans. Should be a ripper. Graeme ps go the ABs.
Is it just me, or does anybody else consider that events this past 10 days or so, have shown our National and Local Governments to be incompetent ? Nationally, the Conservatives seem unable to form any sort of alliance with the DUP or any other minority group for that matter. They have next to no plans for any sort of programme for the next two years in Parliament and seem to already be fighting a rearguard action with the EU over Citizens' rights following Brexit !! Locally, both Chelsea...
Here is my experience from a very recent Porsche ownership prespective. After a long series of Lous Elises, Exiges and an Evora. i migrated to Porsche word. I began the experiment last week with a pre owned 2013 Boxter 981 2.7. The car is pretty much in basic configuration with manual gearbox, 18 wheels, no Pasm, nor PTV or Sports Chrono ( I can' t figure why most of them are configured with the most useless gimmickry like heated seats & steering wheel, upgraded infotaiment and hi fi and...
bbc focus mag issue 310 is it he? s.
I just bought a new desktop from PCSpecialist and perfectly fine it is but the monitor I chose is really poor. It is a an IIyama E2283HS and in fairness was only about £100. I just cannot get the settings right and have come to the conclusions it is not good enough. My wife's laptop and even my small Dell Ultrabook seem to have nicer screens! I use my desktop for working on text documents generally (the current monitor just seems unable to give nice punchy blacks) plus sorting, viewing and...
Good morning, I'm new to the forum after purchasing some used and ex-dem Naim equipment. I'd like to put my system details on my profile but seem to be a bit dim on how to do this. I've gone to the 'update your profile' section in my profile but there isn't a 'system detail' section as there seems to be in other people's profile. I have searched, but can't find any info which leads me to think it's so damn obvious I'm the only one who can't do it. Can some kind soul point me in the right...
Adding together the details from your post, you are in the UK. Starting point, go to GOV.UK, look for "Entitled To", work through this on-line benefit adviser which will give you advice about any financial help you may be able to get. On 14th July make a claim to benefit, most likely Universal Credit, whilst you may or may not be entitled to payment, this sets a baseline for any future help (mortgage element), you may be entitled to National Insurance credits which will help towards any...
Hei Sverige – Dagen H Yes, I know I’m two months early. It was 3 rd September 1967. But I am simply curious as to whether Sweden will be Marking (or even celebrating) 50 years of driving on the Right ? 50 Years ago I was working for the Swedish Highway Authority (Kungl Svenska Vag och Vattenbyggnadsverket) from May until October as part of my Engineering Degree course. Part of my time was spent preparing for that changeover and on the night 2 nd /3 rd spent time uncovering new signs and...
Ok, 1st July 2017 and Canada celebrates its 150th "birthday". A good sized chunk of my immediate family lives in BC and the rest of us are frequent visitors. Another chunk of my great grandfather's family live in Toronto. So we shall all be celebrating. I appreciate that a fair number of people will have mixed thoughts, given that others have ancestors living in Canada going back c.15,000 years. I recently became aware that Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey to most people these days) was the...
This post won't be exhaustive nor perfect, and I know that I'll receive replies explaining to me the painful secrets of the God Market, contradicting my opinions. Ok. I know it already. But let's go with the main topic: how to kill Naim sales in a perfectly healthy country. It takes two things: an importer/distributor who has a very wrong idea of the brand he's marketing, and shortsighted and greedy sellers. Some facts. Pt. one : 2011: SuperUniti is released. In Italy, GreenSounds has taken...
I have forgotten to note the serial number of the hard drive (Seagate Wolf) in my Naim Core ! Is there a way of reading it without physically opening the drive ! needing to register the HD Thanks RK
We all like to (and should) have a pop at organisations that make life difficult. Whether as a warning to others or a simple vent of our frustrations. A brief tale of something to the contrary however. A piece fell of my wife's 'Fitbit' watch the other day and it can no longer charge properly. She bought it some time last year and she went on the Fitbit website this evening to see if there was any help on there/addresses to write to etc., in the expectation of much toing and froing. Turns...
Radiohead are to play Israel again in July for the 4th time, I have read Thom Yorke's comments on boycotts being divisive but I have to say I strongly disagree with their choice to play there again and am interested in other peoples views, are boycotts divisive?
I grew up with Leica Ms, sold them when I eventually had the choice between having to wait four weeks for sloppily processed slides, or an M8 that was frustratingly idiosyncratic. Since that time, I went through a number of systems: Nikon, Sony, and currently Olympus. They do the job increasingly well, but I'm finding myself more and more disconnected with the act of taking pictures. Although I do rather like the new Fujis and the Oly EM1ii - there is a sense of character - they are...
Richard, please can you advise why you are closing the threads around the Uniti launch debacle? The damage is done now, the MD/CEO cannot hold the companies customers liable for internal demotivaton what Naim should be doing is looking around the loyalty piece and retaining as many people as they can and do something with good will. What’s the plan next, terminate user accounts? Regards
Anyone know how to delete corrupt files ! Error code-36 in a non pc friendly way Thank you. Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 12.11.18 Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 12.11.18
I'm off to see Jeff Lynne in a couple of weeks (Sat 24th Jun). I've not been to the new Wembley before so would appreciate any tips. We'll be driving, coming east along the M4. We were thinking of getting there early and having a meal beforehand. What's the parking like ? What time would be best to arrive for a 7pm start. What's the departure like (gridlock ?????) Thanks in advance
Is anyone on here currently gripped by the Americas cup racing? I see a similar thread was open and closed with little interest in 2010, what now?that the boats are fast (for a boat), 100% foiling and not like yachting at all really! I have to admit to going out and buying a TV just to watch the (delayed) free to air coverage. It's 4 races in so far and set to recommence at the weekend. Team NZ vs America 17 (Emirates Team NZ (minor sponsors) vs Oracle - Xerox) I use to crew on J105 and X99...
We are having a 5 day break in Newcastle next week. No car as we are travelling by train, so the local RTS should come in handy. What should we take in ?
Chaps, I'm fortunate enough to be able to retire from work Dec this year and have promised Mrs S a re-vamp of the Garden. Can guys recommend a software planning tool, easy to use and Mac configured. Regards, Lindsay
dear Naimites, I'm apologising because I post a request of help (or suggestion) bit far from our audiophile interests, but, having read in the past, that some of you are electronic experts, maybe I will have a support on a project I would develop for my (other) hobby. Having recently melted the engine bronze bearing of my vintage car of 70+ years old, I wish to have in future 2 temperatures monitored (engine oil and engine water coolant) on a simple LCD or a digit display. Exists a way for...
I moved from my small LA apartment 3 years ago once the desert house was remodeled. Think 1700 sq ft 70s mobile home but with huge covered patio looking onto golf course. Winters are incredible for 9 months then... the desert heatwave has been over 110 for a week, they expect it to top 126. Anything beyond 120 the airport shuts down and planes can't take off, not enough lift. Late July August we get humid weather from Mexico storms, sometimes the lightening is incredible, and you can see the...
