Woke up to the news of yet another attack in London / the UK. What with Grenfell Tower last week ... its been a bad couple of months in the UK. But also must remember the victims of the fires in Portugal.* In additon, there are victims of attacks around the world, including who are so often forgotten. In 2017 there have (up to and including the death in London this morning) been 580 attacks killing 3,945 people - many of whom have been completely ignored by "the west" unless they want to...
Is it from the cost of Naim ownership becoming more easily attainable in North America - post Brexit debacle for the Pound - that this word "Gotten" has been making more appearances within this forum ?
About a year ago I had a dedicated power supply installed and was very pleased with the results so I thought this year I would go to phase 2 - a balanced mains transformer in the hope it would remove the transformer hum from my boxes. Having read lots of posts on this it seems worth a try as the hum varies considerably during the day etc. so may well be "dirty" mains. I also decided that an Airlink standard balanced transformer (from their Audio/Balanced PS section) would be the best bet,...
Whether or not you're a fan of Sir Paul I suspect you'll find the graphics software used here quite remarkable. A very accomplished presentation and there are similar videos for many rock artists including Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, and Elton John.
where has my thread gone.It was a legitimate question until Indians bystander hihgjacked it with a stupid reply.
Hi all, I have been contacted now on several occasions from British gas with regard to installing a new smart meter.I was hoping to fit a dedicated mains feed for the hifi maybe next year when some refurbishments will be taking place.I Was thinking of getting British gas to fit the new smart meter asap and ask them to fit a isolator at the same time. This would then allow my electrician to work on my side without to many complications. so my question is-Is there a preferred or recommended...
I mean your evening meal. Do you still call it tea? Maybe you have you never called it tea? Has it always been something else? If so what was that called? And do you eat again after your 'tea'? And when? For myself, I noticed it returning home at the end of my first year at university. It had become odd referring to tea but I couldn't say dinner at home. My parents social life during my teens had consisted mainly of supper parties. So I settled on supper. This is what we all say in our...
just been thinking about this in the context of recent events, here in UK and elsewhere. i started wondering what the underlying reason for people taking up political leadership jobs -- i am talking here about PM, President etc... prestige? high pay? seems to me its very hard, especially in these modern times, to balance the conflicting interests of whatever population the leader is presiding over. all potential political leaders tend to make all sorts of promises to make things "better" by...
It's that time of year to pick up those guides that give local green fingered enthusiasts the possibility to show off their gardens on specified days and times to any one interested. As well as local artists having their studios open. Is there such a thing for hifi enthusiasts ? imagine being in a guide with your stated system and music preferences. The thought of just popping up the road to experience someone else's idea of how it all should sound fills me with more inspiration than looking...
It may be my imagination, but it appears to me that the Beeb have almost ceased to report upon the results of those sports they have lost the broadcasting rights to. Today for example we had Rafael Nadal win the French Open and Lewis Hamilton the Canadian Grand Prix. Neither merited a mention on the 10pm news. The same applies to cricket, with no mention at all yesterday of England's win over Australia, or Andy Murray's exit from the French Open on Friday. I appreciate there may be issues...
Well she ****ed that up. The footballing equivalent of a Premier team beating a lower division team but with an unconvincing performance and result. And continuing with the football theme Theresa was tackled by the worst player on the pitch. Sometimes winning is not enough - on occasion you have to win with style.
Best ever.. nuff said. RIP!
It looked like a bargain second-hand purchase for BA, after many years of reliable service for Norwich City Treasurers' Department, but ............. John.
Scientists now consider that the human fossil remains in Morocco, dated at 300,000 years are most probably Homo Sapiens ie "us" This pushes back the clock of our emergence as a species by about 100,000 years. Scientists further suggest that the site in Morocco might not be unique, with several other sites in Africa and the Levant showing evidence of similar tools and fires to that in Morocco, but no Homo Sapiens remains. Did we emerge from a single "cradle" well before 300,000 years ago and...
As a retired cop with 30+ years in the job (Essex, not Met) this BBC 'fly on the wall' is the best exposé of every day policing I've ever seen. Well worth a watch. Shows the uninformed layman/woman just what the thin blue line has to put up with on our behalf. No glorification, no dramatisation and, from what I see, very little censorship of what the lads and lasses say in front of the camera. Refreshing and reassuring. Tim
It seems there have been unconfirmed terror attacks. Several reported incidents in relation to separate attacks in London streets.
News here are very confusing. What happened? TV is showing many ambulances and people running everywhere.
Switch HD on!
I know you were born on 21 April 1926 but we've just had a Monday off in celebration, something that didn't happen in the UK and for that I am very grateful ! This is awesome and improved my SQ all day!
Seems like a WannaCrap wor has infected the forum lately. Hopefully Microsoft will release a patch soon. .sjb
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-40077955 I've already been affected by this islamophobic hysteria that cannot do other than increase the risk of air travel. I recently elected for route that avoided Heathrow, incurring an additional flight and lengthy layover just to avoid hold-checking my electronics. What I really want to know Is there some legitimate way to invest in the pilfered-from-checked-bagge laptop industry?
The favourite time of year for the humble and not so inconsequential Tomato. Please could other forum members share a great way of using it, that they enjoy..? Its always said that great dishes can come from just a few great ingredients put together well. Tomatoes are Tomatoes, although there are great Tomatoes and not so great ones. Get the really good ones and, well, what's the best way to use them ?
How fast work in the united kingdom ? My new fiber connection allows me to go around 60 Mbps, a great step compared to the 12 mbps of my old adsl. And you?
