Padded Cell
Another excellent effort in the Star Wars reboot by Disney. Neat trick of clearly being aligned with the original but a great stand alone film in its own right. Strong on the fanboy references and nice jokes too. Loved it.
Could'nt find an open thread (bottle) on this popular topic, so felt the need to uncork a new one!
The idea of 'associate EU citizenship' has been suggested for UK citizens following withdrawal from the E.U. This looks to be something for purchase , that will allow the same sort of travel/ citizen access as we would currently have. Would buying 'associate EU citizenship' represent good value for money, for someone intending to travel or live somewhere else in Europe even if just on a lark? Quite unlikely if other current member states start to withdraw themselves, then again who can...
I was going to post this in the Brexit thread but perhaps its better placed separate. A (slightly) theoretical question to everyone... IF leaving the EU does cause a dramatic drop in UK GDP, decimate exports and therefore cause standard of living for its population to fall; does that make those MPs who vote against triggering Article 50 right to oppose it, or are they still wrong because its against the referendum result? In other words, should MPs vote purely on the popular decision, or...
Hello Can someone tell me how I can close my account please, or can admin complete my request? Thanks.
A heads up on a nuisance call blitz in UK - I expect most forumites are a wise to such scams, but family members might not be. If anyone has something useful on this specific subject or a sure fire fix, lets hear it Over the last week I'm getting 3 to 5 calls a day from people claiming to be BT (British Telecom) telling me they've detected a problem etc.... I am fully conversant on how & what number type code BT use & its so obvious to me its a scam. However I let one call develop to...
I read a thread yesterday in Hi-Fi Corner about the Naim CDI player. The older Naim Audio CD players remain very fine pieces of equipment but as everyone is aware, there is a problem with their ownership in that Naim Audio are no longer able to source a replacement transport should one fail. In response to the original thread about the CDI player, I posted the name, telephone number and website of a company who replaced the failing transport on my CDS2. The company in question are not...
News today the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists have moved the Doomsday Clock 30 seconds forward as a response in part of Trump's election and his climate denial rhetoric. So we're now 2 minutes and 30 seconds away from the apocalypse - the closest since the first American test of a hydrogen bomb in 1974.
Could somebody please tell me in plain English (no technical jargon please) how to take and post a picture of my system in this forum. Thanks
End of October 2016 I purchased an “ex display” Naim Uniti2 from an authorised retailer. It came in the box with registration card etc. Still, it was a huge purchase for myself and I put everything I had financially into it. After all, my main passion in life is to enjoy listening to music . It keeps me going . However, Spotify kept dropping out and so I assumed an ISP problem. I got a new router from my ISP but the drop outs continued. Later a BT Engineer came to my property. I also...
Hi - how can I delete my profile from this website? I used my full name a long time ago and now it pops up at the top of searches in google. Can somebody advice on how to do this? many thanks- G
Well it appears now LG and Sony have followed Samsung and pulled out of 3DTV - I can't say its a surprise and another failed technical consumer fad that joins the list of DCC, Minidisc, Betamax, 8 track etc... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38778244 I guess it just wasn't suited to the domestic environment ... but it is interesting to muse on what makes a successful format and what doesn't...
http://forums.naimaudio.com/to...85#49577346743367785 In a spasm of Christmas Spirit, my young protege and I sent the now-his wounded Mercian back to the factory for a re-do. I bought this bike used for $300 in 1977. Shipping a bike across the pond these days is not a trivial exercise. They do some cool stuff. http://www.merciancycles.co.uk It will have been cheaper to replace it with a modern bike, but steel is now cool in the bike world and now he loves it too. Fingers crossed this ends...
I have been enjoying some biodynamic Italian primitivo from Waitrose recently. Can anyone suggest a Californian Zinfandel to compare it with?
I think that Theresa May should negotiate a free trade agreement with Mexico and cut out the middle man.
Are the Naim polo shirts still available to buy? I've just sent my rather large version to charity, and I'm looking for a smaller size to fit my slimmed down torso.
You can, satirically,go to the Hell. All of you,Charlie Hebdo's pseudo-journalists.
I am at the moment in a lovely hotel in Dartmouth, it's my wife's birthday, so away for a special treat, weather is cold but fresh and dry, everything great except for me one small detail... The A' la Carte menu provides plenty of exceptional choices, expensive choices, all very nice in their extremely small way... Which is my point , should a magnifying glass be provided with ones meal? Who decided, we will cook some exceptional food but make it extremely small....so small it disappears...
Given the current state of the world and my feelings towards it... can I suggest that the padding is removed from the cell, and is reassembled on the outside of the cell, therefore turning the former "Padded Cell" into a small refuge from the asylum of the world. Wonko the Sane had the right idea, Douglas Adams must be smiling down on us.
Is it just me but I tend to get more emotionally involved in the music and it just seems to sound better? Anyone else experience this phenomena? now playing: broken arrows, jose gonzalez
Father Xmas delivered a spectacular pair of Salewa Mid Trainer approach-style walking boots. They are the most impressively comfortable boots I've ever owned and are great for general roving the universe duties. They look cool too. However, with every step they make a kind of 'slurp-flop' sound like a low level squelch as the air inside the boot moves with each step. I have never, ever, had this issue before with any pair of boots. Do you have any idea what may be causing it? and if so,...
I just finished watching episode 1of 6. Baby boomers should enjoy the nostalgic look at how we've listened to music over the decades. Mono, stereo. 78's, 45's, LP's, cassettes, CD, downloads. The Sony Walkman, music videos, MTV. You get the idea. Well-paced, held my interest for an hour. No reason younger viewers wouldn't enjoy the historical perspective as well. Upcoming episodes here
Wow - didn't see this coming ... I wonder where Merc will go for a replacement ... Jensen?
My daughter work for the NHS as an administration assistant at a GP practice. In order to further her career she is planning to complete the practice managers course wich is part funded by the GP practice and part by herself. It means she will have to contribute 50% of the cost from her own pay being £1200. Can anyone who is educated in the UK tax laws advise me is she in entitled to tax relief against this £1200? You comments appreciated. Ken
New drama on R4 inspired by the travels and music of P J Harvey. Throughly recommended for those who follow her work. Previous episodes available on iPlayer radio. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacent...2016/on-kosovo-field
