Just had my renewal to find and increase of 29% on last years premium. I have made no claims and had no accidents or changes to my conditions or circumstances. Has anyone experienced similar levels of increase or is it time for me to change my insurer. If it must be change any recommendations? I am currently with Direct Line who I have been very happy with for years until now. Comments appreciated. Ken

As 2016 comes to an end we say goodbye to yet another cultural icon. The actor Andrew Sachs, who played Manuel in the comedy series Fawlty Towers, has died aged 86. His wife, Melody, revealed that he died in a care home last week after suffering from vascular dementia for four years.

I've been using the photobucket app on my iPad to upload pictures to the Forum. But recently it seems to have stopped working, and I can't get to my pictures or upload new ones. Very occasionally it will work, but then stop again. Is it just me? Are there any idiot-proof alternatives that work from the iPad without everyone seeming my pictures?

Joe is the son of the late Malcom Maclaren and Vivienne Westwood. By the way, that comes from the Latin "Non Campus Mentis"("not of sound mind"). Should those have been kept as cultural heritage?

Has anyone out there built their own, bought a new one recently or upgraded...?? I have specs in mind, and a budget, but need to run some ideas past someone who knows more than me!

...and goodnight? Hate to be smug but I seem to recall mentioning after the Brexit vote that US contributors should be careful as one day in November they may wake up to a bad feeling too. So many thoughts. How wonderful that anyone can become President. Liars, racists, serial philanderers, bullies, people with no experience of politics or government. You just need a shed load of money, a high media profile and an electorate that is so p~~~d off with the political class they they will...

Came across this while on BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programme...shhero_contentcard13 Now, while we can all clearly see, or at least guess at, what they're doing here, and why, it occurs to me to wonder what would happen if someone launched #whitebritishhero? Surely the aims of stamping out rascism are better served through illustrating inclusiveness, rather than some kind of 'What did the Romans ever do us?' type campaign. As an ardent supporter of an 'everyone together' type philosophy...

So who's gonna win the big game tomorrow? Two of the All Blacks' key players are back in a team looking for vengeance against a well-coached Irish side with home town advantage. Looking forward to it.

Don't you just love to find a really good gadget, one that really works and is really cheap? I recently bought a tiny one cup coffee pot but it was too little to balance on the top of the hob. So I bought a little trivet thing, like I'd seen when on holiday in Italy. It cost less than £1 and is just great. Does anyone else have a fab gadget to share, the cheaper the better?

Sad to hear that Sharon Jones, as in Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, has died. Not as big as some others this year but a loss nonetheless. I realised I put her stuff on quite regularly and she is a regular press on mymusic in Tidal. RIP Sharon.

If I read one more reference to "my humble non DR'd NAP500", or "my humble NAC282", or indeed "my humble anything" the iPad's going out of the window! Apologist or misplaced soh, it matters not. No matter what our upgrade aspirations might be, let's all be proud of what we are fortunate enough to own and stop bloody well apologising for it. Yours humbly Uriah

Does anyone else find that when viewing the forum on a computer (in my case MacBook Pro/Safari) it usually displays in the mobile format, same as on iPhone? It's very clunky, with oversized text, reduced functionality, and just a bit of a PITA. Occasionally it reverts to the normal 'desktop' style, but not for long. Maybe I've missed a hidden setting somewhere that would explain to HoopLa that I am not using a mobile phone?

Is it just me? The website is now a horrible amalgam of restless flashy graphics, colours & fonts. It cheapens the brand to my eye. G

Mrs Willy is returning to her roots as a Goldsmith. She’s commandeered my outhouse as a workshop and, after several months of backbreaking refurbishment, has started teaching silversmithing as well as making jewellery to sell. This raises the requirement to photograph jewellery and people making it. Historically I’d used my Nikon F3 to photograph pieces onto Kodachrome. The F3 is long gone and I’ve been having a bash with a Panasonic DMC-FZ28. Passable for the people but shit for jewellery.

Richard, if this is against forum rules and not allowed then please delete and accept my apologies. If it is allowed and anyone finds it offensive for me to post this here then again, in advance, please also accept my apologies. My 12 year old son, Harley (Harley David's son, get it?) has just started 6 months of fundraising events in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The events, in addition to bake sales and competitions in school etc, will include a 21 mile sponsored walk to Southport...

Apparently more than 50 million people are suffering from various autoimmune diseases (including multiple sclerosis, diabetes, inflammatory bowel diseases, dementia, Parkinson, Alzheimer, thyroid disease, rheumatoid arthritis to name but a few) in the US alone. Some autoimmune diseases are projected to double in the next 20 years. Chances that one of us or one of our loved ones is or will be suffering from an autoimmune disease in their lifetime are very high, which makes the topic relevant...

Hi, What grind do you use? Is this grind commercially available from supermarkets, ie. in pre-ground packs? Do you get a crema layer, and if so how? Or is it over-rated, or broadly impossible from a moka, or both? Thanks, Chris

Samsung are buying the Harmen group for $8 billion. Is this a good or bad thing for the likes of Mark Levinson, Revel and Infinity?
