Anybody else ever heard of this bunch? I believe they used to be called venture, or something similar. Thanks to the missus, & a classic "spratt-to-catch-a-mackerel" bloody deal, the kids went in to this studio for a "complimentary" portrait. Mob-handed, we all went there today to preview the shots. Well to be fair they had some great shots of the kids, not the old "family group-shot in their sunday best turned into a canvas" cobblers. Although they did alter (rasterize, is it called?) some...
I will be traveling to Tanzania, Senegal and South Africa for work. I have never been to these countries before. I will be taking my laptop computer with me and am concerned about AC power issues. Can anyone tell me what to expect and what sort of...
A fearfully sad day indeed²Fritz von Irrespective of emotional connections, innit*
There is an old fable about the Blind Men and the Elephant that really reminds me of all the chatter about audio products that goes on here and elsewhere. I consider myself guilty of it as well, although lately i've been trying to avoid doing it.In...
Myself and Mrs Bear are off to the USA in a couple of weeks and visiting folks in both these cities. We'll have time to take in some culture, jazz clubs, and to take our hosts out to a restaurant or two. Any recommendations?
Hi AllI use firefox and like to browse with big fonts, usually two ctrl+ 's. (Showing my age I suppose)I find that even though the fonts get bigger, the columns on most pages such as theage.com.au stay the same width. Is there a way to adjust the...
One of the loudest things I've ever heard was standing by the runway and experiencing a Vulcan bomber on take-off... a never to be forgotten experience but (assuming it's not some kind of wind-up) the project to get one airborne again is in trouble:...
Can anyone recommend something for cleaning my new macbook? Screen and casing.
THE EXPLORER An explorer set off on a journey. He walked a mile south, a mile east and a mile north. At this point he was back at his start. Where on earth was his starting point? OK, other than the North Pole, which is pretty obvious, where else...
When Germany introduced its new Passports & ID Cards (Which one can travel throughout Europe with by Air, Rail and Sea unhindered, except in the UK) earlier this year (at a fifth of the price quoted by er, British Ministers and their eventual Mickey Mouse version of an effort) I thought to mesen, You know what Fritz! I bet Cameron uses this as an election issue. Fritz von Personally I think he's making a mistake.
Barmy enough for Paramount to dump one of its biggest earners. He's been loopy for years, why has it taken Paramount so long to realise this?
Blame Bruce - the thread was his idea, but it had to be done.My vote is for the Ferarri 355 - just before it redlines in second gear - preferably going through a tunnel. I recall that JC once described the sound off the 355 like being chased by a very...
Other than hitting Google does anyone have any idea where to start if I wanted to do one of these?Fair enough a Boxster isn't a 911 Turbo but I'm still thinking it might be useful to do something that teaches the principles of handling a fairly...

OK, how do you cook and serve the best scrambled eggs?My method is to melt a knob of butter in a small saucepan, take the pan off the heat, crack 3-4 eggs (Too many I know!) into the pan and back on a low heat. Season with salt and ground white...
About 600,000 people have come to work in the UK from eight nations which joined the European Union in 2004, says Home Office minister Tony McNulty. Seen in the context of unemployment of 1.68M, it would kind of indicate that Brits, as a nation, are...

Two Creek T40 tuners for sale on ebay - different sellers and pictures, but take a look at the text on each! A little bizarre given that they won't be high value items. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CREEK-T40-TUNER-AUDIOPHILE-FM-PER...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ...
Plum Trees We have about two dozen plum trees. A dozen Green-gage, a dozen Damson and a coup[le of Victorias. This year they are laden with fruit and some of the branches are sgging badly. I have tomorrow off work and intend to pick as much fruit as possible. I also thought it would be a good idea to prune the trees and cut out the dead wood. Does anybody know when the best time of year is to prune plum trees and are there any "rules" to help ensure healthy trees? Cheers Don
Another tidbit from the BBC. But don't worry, this is an up-market gig...quote:It will be more serious than a reality show but will still be entertaining because Victoria is so funny," he (Simon Fuller) told Broadcast magazine. Can't wait./dl
