Such a terrible disease and to attack so precisely the ability to communicate in one who has spent his career doing just that so well, it's a cruel, cruel thing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37451043

A couple of weeks ago, in an attempt to lower my slightly raised cholesterol, I decided to stop drinking milk and give soya milk a try. First up was a carton of Asda’s smart price soya, tasted OK but when poured into tea or coffee the heat curdles it. Next, Alpro simply mild. This is very nice with cereal and coffee, having a creamy taste, but not so nice in tea. Next, Alpro Wholebean. This is not as creamy as simply mild, but more suited to tea IMO. So. What soya milk are you drinking?

WTF is happening to this place? The death of an audio forum Well, it happens a lot 'round here And if you think Peace Is a common goal That goes to show How little you know Do we need a "don't like" button? or a "why do you post such crap continuously" button? or a "have you tried searching" button ? (mind you the search could be better). or a "There are professionals who can help you with this" button?

Mrs-Mike went into hospital this morning for a knee replacement; the deed is done & I'm happy to report she's OK apart from the expected after effects. Now apart from visiting & being a good hubby & as she's probably not being released until Tuesday, I'm all set for a long weekend of listening to what I want, when I want & as loud as I want. Started the evening with an oldie but goodie B.B.King "Live at the Regal" then working my way through many hours of "my" music as I like...

My venerable Alienware laptop was showing signs of dying which were too severe to ignore any longer, so I went and bought myself an iMac. Whim, as much as anything else. I no longer use my computer for much else than standard work-type stuff, emails, writing etc. Games, netflix etc. are all taken care of with my xbox one. So I wasn't bothered about e.g. games not being available etc., and several people I know love their macs. Thought I'd try it. Macs are often mentioned here in terms of...

Diagnosed with pneumonia and didn't look well tonight. Question for our US mates: If she continues to be unwell to the extent that she is unable to stand in the election, what happens?

I have just had to get a new laptop for Ms Lutyens. As I use a Mac I have absolutely no idea about these now! I used to use a free one many years ago, AVG?. Anyway, what recommendations does anyone have or is it just McAfee? Many thanks

At the top of the 'Screaming Audio' forum there's a sticky topic 'Android "Nougat" and the Naim App'. I keep reading this as 'Avoid "Nougat" and the Naim App'... Well obviously it's sticky! And you don't want your tablet to get sticky!

I go for the latter.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a good but not crazy expensive wall mounted shelf that would support 15Kg for a long period of time as I need to lift my SU from my daughters' reach. The solutions I found so far only hold up to 10kg. Anybody else out there with a a good suggestion? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to get my head around 240V power, the basics of how it works. I have been looking online but can't seem to find an explanation that I get. Obviously I DO NOT intend to work with it, just understand it. So far, 240V comes off the pole to my meter then? It then "collects" on a bus bar and distributes to each fuse or RCD and on to the ring for lights, another for outlets, and individually for hifi ect. Power cycles back and forth? 60 times a second, and for each distribution circuit...

A new year of college football starts this Labor Day weekend. I know several here are avid followers and so thought I'd post a topic for us to cheer our teams, rant and rave, or drown our sorrows on a weekly basis. Hopefully we can keep a friendly thread running through the National Championship game. I'm a life-long Buckeyes fan since back in the Woody days, so naturally abhor all things maize and blue. My son is a junior at Washington State University and I've enjoyed watching Mike Leach's...

The 16-80 is more expensive, possibly delivers a slightly better quality image. The 18-300 will zoom-in much closer, when needed. Is the image quality of the 16-80 that much better ? Would a 200% crop from the 16-80 at 80mm match the uncropped image quality of the 18-300 at 160mm. Advice appreciated from the Forum experts. It will be used on a recently acquired D7200.

Please answer honestly!! (I suspect I know what the answer would be for most - and place myself in that category as well. But I also think it is highly reflective of human nature. I await your answers!)

We all know that cupping our ears - or for the most advanced, funnelling cardboard with a head band - enhances our clarity of hearing immensely, thus hearing more detail akin to an amp upgrade. Why does no one do this?

Hi All I wanted to let Members know about an ongoing scam involving Naim Audio products on both Gumtree and Ebay...plus other HiFi sales websites. This is a particularly hard topic for me...as I myself was scammed out of over £400 last week. There is an individual or perhaps a group who are copying legitimate Ebay listings of Naim items, and then creating fake listings on Gumtree, HiFi For Sale and HiFi In Touch...and possibly other sites. Here is my story :- I saw what appeared to be a...
