Do we need them? Do we want them? Should we have them? Where do we put them? Should we spend the money paying down our debts instead? Or put it into 'conventional' forces?

All my condolences to the affected families. All my repudiation to the persons in charge of this atrocity. Erich

So, I was tempted to say the competition starts properly today with the England and Wales opening games but after Payet's glorious goal last night I think that would be a tad unfair... Anyhow, given the English RU boys are beating Australia in their own back yard, the Test team are in fine form against Sri Lanka and with high hopes around the whole nation for our Olympians in Rio can England (or even Wales or NI) deliver?

I was thinking of buying a few thousand PBs, but I now see you cannot get them from the Post Office. I am a bit wary of going online and just giving bank details to a faceless person. Has anyone had any bad dealings trying to buy bonds online or is it straight forward. Thank you for any information advice on this subject.

Topic now open. I'm currently watching the replay of Stage 1 with about an hour to go to the finish. So far, I'm not overly surprised by an early Contador crash on a dry day.

What an awful end my Mother-in-Law is going through - Betjeman had it right: And say shall I groan in dying, as I twist the sweaty sheet? Or gasp for breath uncrying, as I feel my senses drown'd While the air is swimming with insects and children play in the street? G

Anyone going to Byyreuth this year? It seems Katharina has decided to increase the torture inflicted on her audience. From the Wagner society: Dear Sir/Madam/Dear Festival-goers, We look forward to welcoming you to the Bayreuth Festival this year. Due to the overall increased threat level, the 2016 Bayreuth Festival is increasing its security. We would like to inform you of several important aspects in the following: As advanced security measures by the police cannot be ruled out, please...

I recently bought the Bruce Springsteen Album Collection (Vol 1. 1973-1984) on vinyl. This came with a download code to enable the download of all of these albums as MP3's. Unfortunately, the site that the download code is supposed to work from (myplay.me) is no longer offering downloads (it has gone through a change it would seem and is no longer offering downloads of any type) - although the code is valid until Nov 2017. Does anyone know if there is another active download site or perhaps...

Congratulations to Andy Murray. Without a doubt now the UK's best ever tennis player and I'm sure Fred would see him as a worthy successor. Totally in control for the entire tournament. How nice to see him afterwards having a typical new parent conversation with William and Kate.

My wife and I and 2 adult children in their early 20s will be staying in New York for 2 1/2 weeks over Christmas/New year. We would like to stay in Brooklyn for at least 10 days. Are there any locals on the forum that can recommend a neighbourhood that is safe and characterful with interesting eateries and local culture? We are on a budget and prefer to eat what the locals do, at cheap and cheerful places and to just enjoy the local vibe.

I have just seen an advert for Lima device which connects to home network router and allows files to be stored on a separate hard drive. This also allows "all" your devices to be able to access and store files like a Cloud system but only on your own network, so there is no company holding your data. It seems like a good idea at $99, as every time I purchase iCloud storage all I seem to get is "run out of space" messages very soon after. Apple's version seems very difficult for me,...

The driver of a Tesla car died in Florida in May after colliding with a lorry. Under scrutiny is Tesla's Autopilot feature, which automatically changes lanes and reacts to traffic. In a statement, Tesla said it appeared the Model S car was unable to recognise "the white side of the tractor trailer against a brightly lit sky" that had driven across the car's path. The company said the crash was a "tragic loss".

With complete and utter wack-jobs like Katter and Hanson holding positions of power completely disproportionate to either their support, empathy or intelligence, Australia has now joined the USA and the UK as countries that have completely lost their minds. I fear for everyone's future. I really do.

Urban Definition apparently TOP DEFINITION Naim A term used in describing one who has great amounts of sexual potential. A "naim" is generally one who always hangs around girls and "gets" his own. Usually it is used in "girl talk" to talk about a man who they find hot or sexy. Also used as a term meaning a man has a large penis. "that guy was such a naim, he always has a girl" "o look at that guy, hes cute, i bet hes a naim!" " o wow, NAIM! " #player #pimp #niam #hounddog #womaniser by dr. P...

This was my first trip to Scotland, and really enjoyed it. St. Andrews for University graduation, then a driving tour over several days (my wife did the driving on the "wrong" side of the road; I was the sat nav operator) to Arbroath (smokie for lunch), Aberdeen, across to Elgin and Rothes, to Inverness, down thru the Lochs to Oban, and then over to Edinburgh. Toured a couple of distilleries (missed our appointment at Macallan as the road flooded and we could not get there; flood abatement...

Anyone have any experience or recommendations for movie editing software for Macbook. I've just bought one of those little action movie cameras and need some movie making / editing software for Mac. I don't want to buy without recommendation as it usually ends up with fingers burnt and wishing I had not purchased. Advice appreciated. Ken

Sitting here on holidays, cut off from all music, except for some greek rebetiko, on a mono-radio... How does one survive for so long without music from a beloved NAIM box....???

Like many of you in the UK today, we've had some pretty biblical rain, hail, thunder and lightning this afternoon. In the midst of a hailstorm the likes of which I have only seen in certain parts of the US, there was a crack of lightning that was very close by indeed (I've been in buildings when they've been struck by lightning so I know what to expect - this was close, but not that close). The power went out and after the worst of the storm had passed I ventured out to the boiler room to go...

Well, I've just spent several days trying to sort a NAS problem which only seems to affect my iMac (El Capitan, highspec). I can do what I want to on Windows 10 (via Bootcamp). A few days ago, my 3TB WDMyCloud NAS (luckily I don't use it for my FLAC files), decided to refuse to let me write/delete anything on it, giving a variety of error codes - usually "error code -36", although I have seen others as well. Went on t'interweb looking for a solution, and tried the various suggestions,...

I reckon some point before you get to this stage: https://ecmreviews.com/ See how long you have to explore before you find something so ludicrous it makes your jaw drop just before you fall off your chair laughing. As it currently appears, try scrolling down to the review for Continuum, where you'll find this, among much else in a similar vein: 'On Continuum , Bärtsch has hit upon a golden message, one that gathers fruits of experience and squeezes from them a juice of asymptotic parable...

In case you've not heard, MS announced today that the Windows 10 "Anniversary" update will be available from 2nd August. The blurb says its the biggest Windows 10 updates yet and will include a lot of new features. The other info is the MS free Win-10 update for old versions of Windows expires on 29th July, after that you will have to pay & I also hear support for the old pre Win-10 revisions is to be phased out.

Dear fellow forum members, I´m currently looking into a solution to store my vinyl, the current shelf is much too small, it holds only approx 4 meters of vinyl and my collection is 6,5m and growing. As I keep my system and my vinyl in the main living room, I want the solution not only to be practical, but also to look good (for my eyes ;) and shows a some nice cover artwork. On the picture attached a shelf that I like - any idea which make this is? Any other suggestions on vinyl shelving?

we have just had the heaviest rain i remember -- the road drain is blocked so water was gushing into our garage (and just about to overflow into our utility which leads to my listening room ) and threatening to flow though the hallway into the house. at this point i went out in the very heavy rain and tried to clear the main drain in the road, just in case there was stuff blocking it -- yes there was -- but water was quite deep and i wasnt making that much progress. so i decided to address...
