Yep. Sure is.   Anyone who has seen Back To The Future II will remember the scenes set in the small town America of its own future, with talking clothes, self lacing boots and Hoverboards (but curiously no mobile communication devices...)  ...

On the Naim Audio Facebook page appeared the High End Swiss 2015 event so, due to the fact that I was in Zurich for the Diana Krall concert, I took the car, drove for 1/2 hour, paid the parking of the Hotel Moevenpick (the hotel of the audio show),...

I woke at 01:30 on Thursday morning feeling like I needed to blow my nose, as I sat up to do so my nose started to bleed from the left nostril. The bleeding continued and got worse (I guess as my blood pressure increased with the stress). After an hour and a half with my head over the toilet and an ice pack on the bridge of my nose my wife and I decided we had best call the ambulance service. After a 10-minute discussion of the situation with the nice lady on the phone she dispatched a...

The other day I wound my vintage Longines wrist watch and put it to my ear to test if it was working, to my surprise I couldn’t hear it ticking. However, the second hand was sweeping so I knew it was working. I placed the watch to the other ear and it was ticking loud and clear. Swapping back to the other ear, nothing. A little concerned I’d gone deaf in one ear, I wound my vintage Roamer Brevete, this was very loud, no problem hearing this, sounded equally loud in both ears. Next up was a...

Afternoon all   Our front door has been looking a bit shabby so we decided to strip it down and repaint it. However, I have spent a rather unproductive four hours stripping the layers (at least four!) of paint off.   Some of the wood looks...

A lot of similar responses to similar questions get posted here. A list of stock responses, referred to by number, would save a lot of typing:   #1 That topic has been covered pretty often. You should do a search. Why didn't you do a search?...

Has anyone found a straightforward alternative to Finder on the Mac? Perhaps I'm just an Xtree nostalgic, but the way that folders are structured in Finder just seems counter-intuitive, as it hides the tree structure.   Thanks for your help,...

I have noticed I am spending more and more time on THE forum. My wife tells me I'm becoming a nerd, but I disagree.   I think the forum has changed in recent times. What I mean is that the forum used to be a bit nerdy and a bit (well quite)...

I have had a vintage 1970's version Mercian bike with a Vincitore frame that I recently gifted to a young man.   It was in good shape except for paint.   A friend of his rode and wrecked it.  Everything is fine except the pedal and the...

SWMBO fell victim to this this morning. I was busy sorting out a few things and heard her on the phone, apparently arguing with somebody. I thought it was the local vicar making a mess of ordering the Parish Magazines (don't know why we have anything to do with that, as we're both atheists!), so I didn't interfere. She eventually put down the phone and told me she'd paid £50 to the Telephone Preference Service by her debit card (on our joint account). I immediately said "but that's free!",...

Some people are blathering on about some boofy blokes running into each other chasing an oval ball on another thread. So I'd just like to congratulate Peter Sagan on a brilliant win in Richmond today. He's a racer's racer. The strongest guy today. No...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-34462223 Blimey, what's going wrong with our youth today? I remember when gangs of teenagers could do serious damage to each other, Punks vs Teds, Mods & Rockers. The local environment would get trashed too. What do we get nowadays? Hair extensions blowing along the pavement. Amateurs. God help us if we go to war...Tch.
