I'm obviously hoping it's just flu, but the blisters are worrying. My parents can't remember if I've had chickenpox before, so all all three are possible. At 49 years old, this could be a right ol laugh..... Tony
At slight risk of upsetting Mick, I think this deserves a thread. Another part of my growing up gone, Mayall was the rare combination of a great comedian AND actor, and being good at each was why he was so good at the other. 56 is too young. Sad news.

I plan to go to the Philippines and stay at a beach resort for three or four days during the end of this month or first part of June. It will be about swimming, diving, sun bathing and reading. Not looking for seclusion but I’d prefer no small children around for some peace of mind during that short stint. I don’t need a super posh place but some creature comforts would be nice. Netsearch and friends’ suggestions did not cut it as there are tons of exceptionally beautiful places out there.
Folks My partner's mum is close to losing her fight with cancer. Her husband is expecting her to die at home, but doesn't know what the procedure is once it happens (and I think it's worrying him somewhat). I haven't come across...
Can these things get any worse or more bizarre? Probably. Click . I rather like this though . Aooww! John.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-27788286 I read this story and am torn. Having been to Patagonia, the preservation that residual wilderness seems very important. But if the alternative is to burn more coal, which is the lesser of...

thought it was time i posted a new thread. here are some interesting old photos, that show some iconic moments, or are simply thought provoking. This is not intended to compete with the nice photo thread, and is not listed for its high quality images,...
Chaps, I need some advice on the best way to send money from the UK to Norway on a monthly basis. Clearly the banks will charge as much as 'legally' possible for you to electronically transfer. My bank, Barclays, will charge £15 as a base charge, + currency exchange fee per transaction to my bank in Norway. This is not acceptable for the amount I intend to transfer. On further netsearch, I have discovered online companies that are set up with the sole purpose to transfer your money cheaper...
I have just watched my second TV prog of the year! As it is so rare I want it to be worthwhile. I love UMW and have both the Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins versions on CD so I aproached this with some enthusiasm...but... oh dear. I...
http://www.smh.com.au/sport/tennis/maria-sharapova-draws-a-blank-when-asked-about-judy-murray-tweet-20140604-zrwuz.html This is hilarious. Judy Murray is apparently "the first lady of Britsh tennis". That's damming her with faint praise, isn't...
China is acting like a neighborhood bully - It is now bullying Vietnam, Philippine, and who knows which countries will next - Japan, Australia, or perhaps USA? If the proximity of an island is relevant in a land...
Chaps, Terrible news about the fire damage of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's superb Art Nouveu library, interiors and building In Glasgow. A great Scottish artist who was able to paint, design and draw buildings. The band Bombay Bicycle...
I just found out that my avatar has disappeared from my profile. Is that a usual case or just me?
Hallo, On this great forum there are people who like high end audio and good wine. Are there any who like watches and are collectors. Brands like Oris, Rolex , Omega and others?
(from Tuesday's Guardian) : Brain implants have had the unexpected and intriguing side effect of causing a 60-year-old Dutch man to develop a sudden and powerful love for the music of Johnny Cash , a new paper reveals. A case study in the journal Frontiers in Behavioural Neuroscience describes how "Mr B", a married man with a very severe form of obsessive compulsive disorder, developed the urge to listen to the country singer while receiving a form of treatment called deep brain stimulation.
Proportional Representation. Given that we now have four parties receiveing significant numbers of votes in this year's Local Elections, is it about time we introduced proportional representation and did away with our "first past the post"...
Need to make space and want to get rid of the plastic cd shells. Any recommendations on archival quality sleeves for CDs + booklet storage - that people have actually used and where the cds haven't gone bad, say for several years?
Found out this week that our moggy who is about 18 years old has got a Thyroid problem and needs to be given an Expensive tablet every day for the rest of her life. Tablet must be given whole as it is slow release. No point in sticking it in her food...

The Tags section shows SuperUniti as being the most popular keyword, but I haven't seen it mentioned in a while. Any idea what the tags section does?
I have an HMV gift-card for in-store use only. We have two large HMV stores in Norwich - one located in a new mall and the other slap bang in the centre of the city on the main thoroughfare. I wanted the 2013 released CD 'The Weight...
I shed a tear over the awful news of today's fire at Glasgow School of Art, still burning as I write. Mercifully no-one was injured (physically anyway) which is a surprise given how quickly the fire took hold. I studied at Duncan of Jordanstone...
