Just fell for what I think should be described as a scam. My Windows 8 (very high spec) laptop was reporting that I needed to update the display adapter driver for my Radeon 2GB card, finished up paying for and downloading and installing DRIVER DETECTIVE. They then proceeded to tell that my computer was showing large numbers of 'unfixable' errors, then offered to arrange to 'fix' them for approx. £200! Listened with increasing scepticism to the operator for a few minutes and I eventually got...

A person is in bed and hears the sounds of someone in the house at night.   First thought [for a normally sensible person] would be what about my family and friends also in the house. Where are they? Are the safe from the intruder?  Is it one them moving about, possibly in the bathroom for a call of nature?   First action is to make sure that they are safe and where expected ...   Don't just shoot the bathroom door in case an intruder is the other side.   If the man...

I’m thinking of changing a 25 year old wooden framed single glazed French windows & door to UPVC triple glazing. The room in question is on the north side of the house, with French window/door facing to the east. It’s the coldest room of my house : ( My 2 main reasons are to make the room more comfortable/warmer in winter with no cold draughts, and for better sound insulation to stop the sound of home audio travelling around a very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. Is triple glazing...
