A Plebiscite on the EU in the UK? Whether I agree with the current HMG on many issues, I do believe they have it right to vote on whether the UK should continue to be a member of the EU.  I am very much pro the EU, but we live in a...

Patty Andrews, the last surviving Andrews sister has died 94. I posted this because most of the older forum readers will have memories of this iconic close harmony swing trio from childhood. In the 1950 & 60's "the wireless" featured strongly in most homes & programs like Family Favorites & Forces Favorites invariably had at least one Andrews Sister request every week. I guess it was even more so for our US readers. But I doubt anyone on this forum has...

I'm not trying to rationalize the fact that he cheated, but did it give him an advantage over the rest of the field?  Most of his vacated titles cannot be re-awarded to close finishers because they are guilty as well.  I'm quite interested...

A major Catholic health provider in the US has successfully dismantled a wrongful death lawsuit brought against it by arguing — in defiance of its own long-held doctrine — that a dead fetus is not the same as a dead person.

What is about local government ?? do they train to be impervious to fixing problems. Has any one else got some amusing, frustrating but hopefully Monty Python’esk stories. This morning was such an event - The local council has rock salt boxes in strategic places around the village to help us during the real problems we get with the many hills around the place M y small "close" road has a steep'ish slope out onto the main road (1/10 hill) & I have volunteered to collect & spread a...

RAV4 v CRV v BMW X3 Its time to replace our RAV4 that we use when in Canada. Its been a superb vehicle for the past 10 years or so and still in good condition, but Mrs D thinks we should modernise. 4WD and reasonable ground clearance is essential. Daughter No 1 (in Newbury) has a BMW X3 which looks really cool. Of the three vehicles it’s the one I most like the looks of. It’s sort of comfortable to drive. But its only about 4 years old and she has only done 60k and a few weeks ago the turbo...
