Ok, so it's the same Christmas card as last year, but with my failing memory I still laughed. All the best, Alastair and Andy, I hope I'm allowed to visit sooner rather than later. Tony

Odd one for a HiFi forum... I recalled a thread a while back re induction hobs but when I tracked it down it did not answer my query. We are about to fit a totally new kitchen. We use a ceramic hob but have been suggested induction (gas not...

I don't post much here anymore. Things are tough for many reasons. But, on the bright side, I find a lot of comfort here still. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone from Paul Stephenson on down for another excellent year. Thanks for a...

Just read in yesterdays Sun(quality paper) of a young kid who 4 years ago aged 18 took out a £150 loan. To cut a very long story short he could not pay it back and took out other loans to pay back the 1st loan etc etc. 4 years on he is now £10k in debt. I was always told if you cannot afford something you go without !!!! This muppet gets my PLONKER OF THE YEAR AWARD.....unless anyone knows better. Mista H

A bit of frivolity for the season: Can you legitimately claim a 'connection' to famous musicians? Some of you may no doubt be well connected, others less so. I have 2 degrees of separation to Fleetwood Mac and 3 to Genesis and The...

I will definitely be avoiding SP12, sitting on my own in the kitchen listening to Planet Rock while my family defers to our Olympic heroes. I fear the worst, with many of the women on the shortlist doing nothing but trying to out-do...

Well, the shortlist is out - unusually, we're spoilt for choice this year. Who would you vote for? (Click below). Personally, I'd go for Wiggo - winning the TDF and a Gold within a week is a pretty awesome achievement.

Matt Taibbi hits it out of the park again - the only truthful & rational reporting on the activities of the Banks has been from his "pen". This time it's the Obama Justice Dept. & HSBC. (I am sure the Bush or a Romney version would have come to the same result.) http://www.rollingstone.com/po...121213#ixzz2FFUUI46O Good thing we're not corrupt in the West like them Russians or Nigerians, huh? A disgrace - I hope posting this link is OK; if not I...

Now that my lp12 Nima is finally up an running I've started to go through all the vinyl that I've collected over the last year an check the price on the book to see what I can find. The best so far is trees on the shore original press the record is mint an sounds amazing the sleeve is near perfect an says its worth £250 mint in the book. Hope I come across some more hidden treasures as I've still got loads to do. So my question is what beauties have you found an what were they worth. Clare

Just finished watching the Claridges documentary on TV. Whats the best & worst hotel you have stayed at? For me one of the best that stands out was the Hotel President in Berlin. They did everything right without being poncy. Our room had a huge walk-in Power shower, best i have ever used. The worst was probably the Beach hotel,Ramsey,I O M. A total sh1t hole but we always stayed their for the TT every year. 2 things i remember about the place were a guy who went their as a...

Word of warning, there are fake Nikon filters on Ebay that are very realistic. The box/instructions are almost perfect and the filter ring is perfectly made, but very slightly thinner (not height). The glass is coated, but where the quality let's it down is in the glass. There's an opaqueness that cannot be cleaned off and will sacrifice image quality. They're rubbish. So don't be tempted by £20 Nikon filters. If it seems too good to be true, it is.
