Hi - I’m having an issue with a buzz/hum through my front L&R speakers when I’m using my AV system (where front L&R are routed through AV unity gain input on my SN). The strange thing is I’ve only noticed this recently but I swear the hum is getting louder and it’s quite intrusive now when the programme material is quiet/silent. Following the advice on another thread I found after doing a forum search, one at a time I tried disconnecting all the other devices that were connected to...

Thought I'd just air an observation. I have now been to an IMAX twice, once at Waterloo and this afternoon at Wimbledon. The first experience was gob-smacking, even though the film was poor; the second? Good. The difference? At...

Introduction The purpose of this thread is to describe and share my experiences in ripping and streaming DVDs. In doing so I believe that most people will be interested in the technical, rather than any thoughts I have on the why, so I have...

I am not sure that this is the proper place to post, but I have to post it somewhere, so here it is. While I am not very interested in storing my CD collection on HD, I'd like to transfer my 100 or so DVDs (films, concerts) on a HD to save shelf...

Hi, I have a Yamaha RX - V667 receiver for my home theatre. I have a Naim CD5i and Nait 5i for CD playback. I'm trying to use my Yamaha as a pre-amp, passing the L&R front pre-outputs into the AV inputs on the Nait. The Nait is then connected to my front L&R speakers. I am getting a loud humming noise as soon as I select "AV" input on the Nait. (CD's play just fine when then input on the Nait is "CD"). What are some possible culprits for the hum, and how can I fix it? Is there a...

I've had the problem many times of the remote not working, usually fixed by doing a reset as advised in the FAQs.  This time I've done a remote reset, and then reset both the remote and NVi but with no effect.  The message on the NVi screen...

As someone with an Apple TV 1st and 2nd gen (but no 1080p TV to make it worth getting the new Gen 3), I look on with interest at the notion of an intelligent Apple TV set. There still seems to be a lot of saber beating going on about iTV trademarking...

I´ve decided to go from 2 to 5 channel audio, mainly because I mostly use my hifi system for movies nowadays. I have an old olive nap 140 which I really like the sound of and I would like to use it to power a proac studio center or proac tablette 2, rears. The AV preamp will be an Onkyo - PR-SC5509 and the front speakers proac responce 18 with tablette 2 rears coupled with two Onkyo - M-5000 amplifiers . I have trouble seing if I can connect my naim amp to the onkyo PR-SC5509 ? Anyone here...

After 6 years of mostly happy ownership (usual n-Vi software niggles cured with latest firmware) i'm thinking about moving my n-Vi on. I haven't used it in 5 channel mode for a few years and since the arrival of the NDX its been relegated to pure DVD duties (rather than FM / DAB / TV sound) so it's rather wasted in its present role. I'm looking for a simple player to replace it - it needs HDMI and preferably coaxial S/PDIF out and it must fit my isoblue rack so nothing too big. The Denon...

My Marantz NR1402 remote collides with the Naim remote codes. For example, when turning up the volume on my Marantz with the Marantz remote even the volume on my Nac 282 goes up. Pretty annoying. I have connected the Marantz to the Nac...

Hi guys, I would like some technical advice if possible.... I want to connect my LG LCD TV to my Nait5i. The TV only has an optical out on the back of it, so I am looking at possible DACs to go between the TV and the Nait. As I won't be using using the DAC for streamed media then I have a limited budget, so have been looking at the Arcam rDAC and the Cambridge Audio DacMagic. Does anyone have any advice on how well these will work with the Nait? Or if there are any alternatives under £250, I...
