Forum,Notwithstanding the power supply problems which our friends in Salisbury are working tirelessly to remedie can anyone give me an idea as to the overall performance of the n-Vi. My wife God bless her has sanctioned a £5000.00 upgrade to my...
hi guys,i am moving house very soon and want to set my allaes up as fronts for hi-fi AND surround sound but am unsure how to link allaes to processor . will eventually invest in an nvi but have to make do with what ive got a present which is... kef...
browsing on the internet, see a naim dealer stating n-vi in stock, i presume these must be old stock, i would have thought with all the problems i have read about on the forums they would have been re-called until all the problems had been sorted out ?
the film of the Nick Hornby book of the same name can be seen on BBC3 (for UK viewers) in about 5 minutes this evening. I've read the book and enjoyed it, no guarantee about the film though... Barry
Hi there,I am looking to buy a new HD recorder( recording to DVD will be handy, but not 100% necessary - we will have new DVD formats soon anyway). I am interested in one that has Freeview/digital converter built in so I can record directly from it...
Hi all,For the first time I've hooked up the output of the DVD5 to my plasma. However the plasma is showing a colourful scrambled picture like white noise but with colour thrown in. Occaisionally when I first plug the cable in a get the correct...
Who has some nice picture of the n-Vi box. From the front/back/side/etc.. Maybe the Inside??And for the n-Vi owners, how is the n-Vi doing it? could you tell us how it sounds and if it is what you thought it should be.
Will this be possible? I can't think I would want to buy the discs otherwise! Fredrik
Hi, I have a problem with my Scart cable whereby I keep getting a shock from it!! First I might need to explain my situation. I live in a block of flats where there is a communal dish providing both digital TV & Sky. This led to my 112x humming due to a ground loop (found this out by posting a discussion thread). To solve this I leave the Scart disconnected when not watching DVDs. When I want to watch a DVD, I disconnect the digital TV and Sky aerials from the wall socket and then reconnect...
As I have been lazing around with the flu I have been playing some music DVDs (on my DVD5/AV2 setup) and the DTS sound quality is great.By accident I put a music CD in which started playing and seemed to sound pretty good - at least as good as my...
My Naim dealer told me that the DVD5 gives the best quality picture when sending the signal through component video. I assume that this is the the 3 RCA to RCA connectors found on the back of the DVD5 and on most modern TVs. Anybody any...
I have a significant investment in Naim gear on the audio side. I decided to take a peek into this side of things and have been shocked by the number of quality control problems on the video side of things. How long will we have to wait before the...
Hi there,Been sitting listening to Music DVDs for the last couple of hours now.Can anyone tell me why the AV2/DVD5 combination just laps up DTS soundtracks ? It's consistently a massive diffence between the DD track on everything I've been listening...
The hard disk on my Sky + box is very noisy. It has sound levels about the same as the cooling fans on my 135s. Obviously it's not a problem if the tv or hi-fi is on, but it's irritating when I don't want to play anything. Is this normal? Is there...
is there any forth coming news on the nv-i, all seems very quite on the forums, is the testing going ok ? or is there still problems to be re-solved ? would appreciate an update at some stage, all my dealer keeps telling me is should not be much...
Hi forum, I've just purchased a new DVD5 & folded it into the 252 based system. I disabled the unity gain & am runing the DVD5 through input 4 of the 252. O.K. So far... The first movie was The Fifth Element. Sound was amazing (compared to my older Linn Classic movie). After playing a few other DVD's ..I've noticed a really annoying bug/problem....I've verified this on about half dozen DVD's so far: i) For DVD's where there are movie previews & a title / main menu area the sound is great...
I have just bought an AV2 which I am using in conjunction with existing Naim pre & power setup. I am having a few problems getting up & running & wonder whether I am doing anything daft...! -Firstly whenever switching just about any function or volume change etc there is an annoying click as the function / action takes place -I presume this is not 'normal'..? -I cannot get the the first coax digital input to work. Play same digital feed into coax 2 & its ok. Into coax 1 & says no signal...
I have steered clear of home cinema so far as I wanted to put any available cash into the main system to maximise it's capabilities.I am now starting to think about adding surround sound but know nothing about it. I have dipped in to the Naim Home...
Hi there,Well I had a most enjoyable time on Sunday afternoon, making a pleasant trip up to Stirlingto listen to Neill Ferguson's AV system. The system consists of a Panasonic 37 inch Plasma, sitting on top of a nice Quadraspirerack in wood and a...
at the moment am running phono to phono from av receiver to sub, i have noticed my sub has 2 phono inputs is there any advantage to run a single phono from say n-vi to 2 phono into the sub ?
I've had the fortune / mis-fortune to own an n-Vi since early Feb along with n-Sat / n-Sub speakers.Fortune - because when it works it's without doubt very good in terms of picture and sound.Mis-fortune - because I'm now on my THIRD system. The first...
Mainly a question for US DVD5 owners...I am considering either LCD or Plasma in the 40 - 50" range. Does the DVD5 do well with the internal scalers of most 720p displays (Having trouble finding any EDTV 480p natives)? Any horror stories? My current...
have read somewhere bnc to rca adaptors are not to clever, anyone suggest a resonable rca to bnc component cable for my n-vi to my pw6b, no rush
With Blu-ray touted to be capable to output 1080p and the latest 1080p projectors invariably packaged with its own external or internal scalers, are there still merits for one to invest in a third party scalers at this juncture?
We know that the Cinemateq will only accept interlace signal for processing so DVI output is out of the question. The DVD5 SCART output analogue interlaced signal and so I thought this will work perfectly with the Cinemateq as it has a SCART input....
