What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Some fine music from a fine band.
Dire Straits - Dire Straits
Noticed this on Qobuz last night.
\\
I wondered if it was a Welsh band or maybe a vague hormonal reference - Estron means stranger/alien/foreigner in Welsh. As they're on Gofod records (Gofod = Space) I assumed they were Welsh and so it seems from Cardiff.
Seem to have some refreshing Indie/punk sounds, and in some ways makes me think of Garbage and Skunk Anansie.
If you can access them on streaming try, if nothing else, the superb track Cameras, or listen here

My neighbour is exhausted after completing the half marathon - I think I risk waking him up later playing this bloody loud.
When i first got my Shahinian speakers i remember reading a review by Malcolm Steward who mentioned this album. Intrigued by the description, i ordered it and have loved it ever since. I should explore some of his other work really.
For some reason a nice glass of Whisky always goes down very nicely with this album...
Duke Elegant - Dr John

Steely Dan - Countdown To Ecstasy
Streaming on TIDAL............ continuing on with another album from Steely Dan....... Sounding quite lovely this Saturday morning while preparing to head out the door to run some errands! Life is pretty good.......
Their best album IMO.????

Try the album “Tribal” by Dr John and the 911 State........first 3 bars of this convinced me to buy my ND 555. The lovely drawl and the way he swings the music around is great. Will check out your album.
Cheers Gazza - i'll take a look .
Edit - now purchased.
Now playing.........
Wolfgang Muthspiel - Where The River Goes
Wolfgang Muthspiel (guitar), Ambrose Akinmusire (trumpet), Brad Mehldau (piano), Larry Grenadier (double bass) and Eric Harland (drums).
Streaming on NAS.......... pre-ordered and released on October 5th and delivered to the house, ripped to NAS and now streaming. Enjoy Wolfgang's albums and been looking forward to playing this album and nothing like kicking off a relaxing Sunday morning with something new!
Josh Rouse - Love In The Modern Age. I have a few of his earlier albums, but this is a recent purchase which seems more keyboard led than his earlier work. I've read that The Blue Nile were a bit of an influence on him when recording this.
A new purchase for me that arrived today. Can't recall seeing Lisa Hannigan on here very often.
Now Playing..................
Jakob Bro - Bay of Rainbows
Jakob Bro (guitar), Thomas Morgan (double bass), and Joey Baron (drums)
Streaming on NAS.......... delivered to the house, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin! Fantastic from the opening notes, I do enjoy enjoy Jakob's music quite a bit and have tickets to see him in Seattle at the end of the month.
And now for a bit of smooth operator.....
A+ (24/96). Telemann - Quatuors Parisiens - Nevermind
Prompted by all this talk about singing along with Madonna.
Wife and husband, German and American, doing a French Marin Marais:
Wayne Shorter - Adam's apple
(1967 | 2018)
Bobbie Gentry sounding absolutely wonderful on this newly remastered and significantly expanded beautifully presented box-set. This album is the best I've ever heard her on any digital source and its been far too many decades to try and remember how she sounded when I had her on original vinyl. Wonderful!
Now Playing........
Elles Springs - Reveal
Streaming on TIDAL......... A mention from EOINK yesterday had me place this in the TIDAL queue and now taking out for a spin. Wonderful vocals and acoustic guitar through the first two tracks and looking forward to the rest of the album.
Basically a live “Greatest Hits” album released in 1994.
Playing on Vinyl - Live Tangerine Dream from 1982

I was going to join Jeroen by playing this album. However, I can't find it! Consequently I decided to play The All Seeing Eye instead. This is an album I don't play that often as it's rather intense and demands focused listening. Very inventive stuff here though.
Always great to lift any kind of day...
A nice trio
Wayne Shorter - Night dreamer
Another great one from Wayne Shorter.
- Bass – Reginald Workman
- Drums – Elvin Jones
- Piano – McCoy Tyner
- Tenor Saxophone – Wayne Shorter
- Trumpet – Lee Morgan
Low - Double Negative. After their last album, Lows and Sixes (which I love), I couldn't wait to get this new release. But this is a bit of a departure from their previous work and is quite a challenging listen. It is quite haunting and unsettling - full of distortion, sound treatments, electronics and the like and certainly won't be for everyone. Somehow, it seems to work though - melodies seem to seep through the murk. Perhaps, think Radiohead (Kid A?).
