On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

I know you are only starting to get into country but try both of the above albums you might like. I always wonder how Dire Straits would have turned outif he had allegedly accepted an offer from Knopfler to join.
Very much agreed purchased a couple of Vince Gill CDs a few months ago very enjoyable indeed.
Now playing........
Rebecca McDade - To Call Home
Streaming on TIDAL.......... going with a mention from EOINK earlier today and taking Rebecca out for a spin. Wonderful vocals and fine acoustic guitar working some magic, sounding mighty fine!
Full on Frapping. None of that whispy fey folktronica here.
2018 - Idles - Joy As An Act Of Resistance
Pseudo Goth/Punk - on Tidal...
Tracey Thorn. Out of the Woods. Second solo. 2007
with the very lovely " Grand Canyon"

The intro reminds me of Atrocity Exhibition from Closer by Joy Division but a little angrier. Good band.
Now Playing.......
Vince Gill - High Lonesome Sound
Streaming on NAS......... going to join in with EWEMON and PCD and take Vince out for a spin. I had picked up some of Vince's CD's when I was living in Dallas during the mid-90's and had the opportunity to see him in concert. Vince has one sweet voice and a fantastic guitar player. Living in the south for four years in the 70's and in Dallas for 2+ years in the 90's certainly exposed me to the country music scene from local bars and dance halls to large concert arenas, a lot of fun times and fond memories!

If anyone had told me a few years ago I would be fan of Country, I would say they were mad. How wrong am I! But with superb artists like this gentlemen, how could I resist.
This man has only ever released belters in my view.
I know what you mean Nigel, for years my Country collection had the Byrds, Flying Burito Brothers, Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris, then Plant and Krauss did Raising Sands. Listening to Alison Krauss and Union Station opened my eyes, and now I find I buy more and more Country albums. Chris Stapleton is a star, and if you haven’t already tried it, listen to Will Hoge’s My American Dream, a recent album Ewemon recommended, it’s superb.
Will Hoge is safely queued up in Tidal since Ewe posted the him the first time, and will hopefully get a chance to listen tomorrow.
In Ewemon, I trust. The man has excellent choice in music, the only problem is narrowing down his wonderful array of postings. I have a good feeling about Will though.

One of my all time favorites. I just love the gravely vocals. Also check out Volume 1 which is great also. I also favor the "Traveler" album musically, but these 3 are my wife and my favorite's. Lucky to see him in concert in August in NH. A great way to check your system is to see if you hear his wife singing backup, and then see if the image of her is about 18 inches to his left. With my DAC V1, her voice is layered with Chris'. When I use the NDX DAC and analog outputs, I am able to see her image to the left of Chis.

Yep, got Traveller and Vol 1. Unfortunately, for so many years, I believed Country was typified by Dolly and Willy, and those are fine artists, don't get me wrong. But there of course is far more to the genre than my narrow and prejudiced view had me believe.
For some reason Country seems to get a bad press, like it is not a worthy genre. From listening to artists like CS I now know this to be complete bol**cks.
BTW Bailyhill, I hope you noted Ewemon's tip about Paul Thorn, another artist I need to check out.
Now Playing........
Lisa Hannigan - At Swim
Streaming on TIDAL......... going with a mention from MDS and taking Lisa out for a spin. .......and Lisa is sounding sweet, fantastic vocals and music and enjoying this album quite a bit....... off to visit the river......
I think I might have picked this up from some kind soul's recommendation here? well, I like Chet, despite tragic story of his life -- but hey what's new in this business?
enjoy/ken

Paul Bley was also a bit of an enigmatic figure in the jazz world and getting these two together was a great coup for Steeplechase and what they created was something special.
It is amazing to think now that all these amazing Jazz musicians that Nils Winter brought together and recorded were considered unfashionable back home in the US and so were all playing the European Jazz circuit to crowds of one and two hundred people what an amazing time to have been a jazz fan.
Cat Power, wanderer, on vinyl; great!
Angela Hewitt - Liszt
Just out on Bandcamp. High energy post-bop.
Freshly ripped after a very pleasant rummage through Ben's Records in Guildford yesterday
Van the Man, Astral Weeks, 50 year anniversary of release this weekend! Still holds up as one of his best half a century later. CD WAV rip.
Playing on Vinyl on Archiv Records - Very relaxing Vivaldi to get sunday morning going.
A random pick from the classical CD pile. A good one for a Sunday morning, as it turns out...
Mary Black > Speaking With the Angel
An old Geoff Muldaur album from 2010. Acoustic blues
