On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Tash Sultana - a present from my brother on CD, ripped and amazingly good, both musically and quality of recording.
An old Neil Young promo entitled For the Turntables used in record stores.
John Coltrane - Coltrane's Sound
Vinyl released 2016 - Excellent album. ????
Piotr Anderszewski - Bach: Partitas 1,3,6
Playing on Compact Disc - Some soothing Vivaldi Recorder Concertos to get the working day going
Double CD released 2015 - Fine album. ????
Playing on Compact Disc - Brought in a charity shop for 50 p - Sounding very airy and haven't heard many of the composers
ewemon posted:Prompted by a post in the old music thread. For me the best line up of Ash before Wisefield joined who was excellent in the band Home but their style changed and I fell out of love with them. Think I have mentioned before about my fight with this line up on a tour bus which didn't help.
Pretty sure that any long time Ash fan is already aware but just in case:
Wishbone Ash still exist and are touring today. In fact there are 2 versions, "Wishbone Ash" fronted by Andy (Flying V) Powell and one fronted by Martin Turner called "Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash". A well documented 2013 court case decided in favour of Andy Powell being able to use the bands name hence the change of name for Martin's band. Most fans will probably side with one or the other but I try to remain impartial. Nevertheless, having seen both bands live several times, I have a slight preference for Martin's version. Andy's band may be arguably more technically proficient but Martin's band just seem to be more fun. If you wish to investigate further I can recommend the 2 autobiographies "No Easy Road" by Martin Turner and "Eyes Wide Open" by Andy Powell. I'll leave it to you to then make your own minds up!

Have seen videos from both bands but they just don't do anything for me. They just don't have the same feel, energy or flow as the original band which I saw on a few occasions.
Walter Norris - Sunburst
Nice jazz by the Walter Norris quartet, with Joe Henderson on sax. Recorded in 1991.
- Bass – Larry Grenadier
- Drums – Mike Hyman
- Piano – Walter Norris
- Tenor Saxophone – Joe Henderson
Double vinyl released 1971 - Great live album. ????
Bobby Hutcherson - The Kicker
- Bass – Bob Cranshaw
- Drums – Al Harewood
- Guitar – Grant Green (tracks: 4 to 6)
- Piano – Duke Pearson
- Tenor Saxophone – Joe Henderson
- Vibraphone – Bobby Hutcherson
Playing on Compact Disc - Etherial magic from The Cocteau Twins.
Fine playing, first this morning...
Checked in but forte piano is not my thing...
Better as assumed by a lot of people, an accomplishment at that age...
Not so well known as others, but very good..
A bit more obscure, with great support..
Nice but not nice enough for me to get it...
This is a nice ne with a warm guitar sound, and a nice support...

I agree TC. A personal favourite compilation back in the day and one that was usually on call for any kit demos. I haven't played my copy for a good many years though, so a nice reminder to dig it out and give it a clean and a play.
