On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
On Vinyl
I haven’t played this in years
A lazy Saturday afternoon before watching the football. Another great release from SteepleChase listening to this you wouldn't know who was father and who was the son that's how good Doug Raney's playing is and I actually prefer Doug's playing on this record..
Great recording too as always with SteepleChase.
First time I’ve posted in this thread but have enjoyed browsing and have discovered some great new music. I discovered this today on Qobuz, wonderfully produced and a great set of songs. I’d never heard of them before, they only seem to have the one album but I enjoyed listening to this immensely this afternoon (nothing to do with my new Nova)...
Now playing........
Kasey Chambers - The Captain
Streaming on TIDAL........... kicking off the day with Kasey to help get the feet shuffling this morning with 'The Captain' released 20 years ago and sounding mighty fine!
Continuing the laid back mood this 1985 live recording from the Sonet Library in Sweden is an absolute peach Chet is in such emotive form on this record it's an absolute classic.
Michel Graillier is in fantastic form on Piano as is Jean Louis Rassinfosse on bass these three played together a lot and it shows. There is actually a video recording of this on Youtube which is well worth a watch get it going through your system and you will be in for a treat.
There is an interview too between Red Mitchell and Chet and they play a rendition of My Romance not included on this record which is beautiful.

I'm listening to this a lot too at the moment. Contains lots of good stuff.
Playing on Vinyl - Country Tinged Rock from American rockers The Long Ryders from 1985.
Great album and a great band. Had the privilege of seeing them live years ago at Liverpool University Mountford Hall. Brilliant gig and got to speak to Sid Griffin at the bar before it started.
Hi Dan,
Happy New Year mate.
Yeah they where great and had a very loud guitar sound.Saw them a couple of times and they where awesome.
This video will send you back - enjoy - Cheers Ian
Cheers Ian, great video I’ve got all their stuff must start playing them again. ????
On CD:
(1973)
Golden Earring - Moontan
I haven't listened to these boys in a long time. I saw them in Amsterdam circa '74/75 performing on a barge that had been pulled across a canal where they plugged in and sparked up on what I found out later was an impromptu gig. I had been wandering around checking out bars and Heineken that evening when I heard the music and headed straight for it. I don't remember too much about it but I'm sure it was all good as I woke up with a big grin the following morning.
Now playing.........
Kasey Chambers - Dragonfly
Streaming on TIDAL.......... following up with another album from Kasey, 'Dragonfly' which was released two years ago, some very nice songwriting, with some fine vocals and music! ........working well this Saturday morning.........
Vinyl released 1975 - Some Dan to cheer me up after just watching the Everton game ????Great album. ????

Baker Street
A lovely two hour compilation of late great Gerry Rafferty hits and best tracks. Unusually for compilations this one on EMI Gold maintains the lovely SQ and very decent dynamic range of his early albums.

I watched it too, Dan! Trying to stay positive but wow, really! What was that (yet again)?

Clear out imminent, some players just not good enough. Easy to see why we don’t beat top six teams. Very sad team to watch????????
Joan Armatrading - Show Some Emotion
Our Joan smashed it out of the park with this one. Shame she never quite matched the quality and.....err......emotion of these early albums in her later offerings. But this is brilliant IMHO.
Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa - Black Coffee
Proper belter, in the truest sense of the word.

The absolute pinnacle...and it sounds sublime.

Back to the 80's for me tonight, rediscovering Soft Cell - what a helluva voice Marc Almond has, he doesn't hold anything back. This is one of my favourites, now playing on vinyl:
David Friesen - Three to Get Ready, w Clark Terry & Bud Shank. A sweet one from a 1994 Berlin session.
