On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Shaving mirror 2008 - A polished and well produced album. ????
Dug this one out of hers. Truly underrated artist.
Been looking around for her a copy of her earliest work Toys for Men but rare as hens teeth as they say.

I don't own much classical music Bert but am a big fan of Vanska's Sibelius work with the Minnesota orchestra.
I would even take it a step further Vanska has produced already quite some above average albums so far. Also his Beethoven is interesting. And i looking forward to how his Mahler cycle is unfolding, while I haven’t heard it. This Sibelius is the most transparent I have heard so far. Normally conductors tend to create a wall of good sounding Sibelius, but here you get a transparency which is missing with most. Absolutely recommended.
I tend to view classical pieces and how they are played in the emotion I feel when hearing one. He certainly hits the spot for me with a good number of his Sibelius recordings.
Posted this 2015 album of his the other day and don't think many people picked up on it so this time I have posted a video giving you an idea of the album. Brilliant Danish blues. IMHO I don't he has put out a bad album.
Grant Green - Sunday Mornin', rather appropriate I think.

Could this be considered "bask[ing] in the shadow of yesterday's triumph"? Quite like Animals now and again though.
A few choice pieces of vinyl that I know really well to evaluate the the recent 250 service+DR upgrade and BMR repair to one of my Ovator S-400 speakers. Sounds a little closed in at the moment but sure it will open up over the next few weeks.
Bill Evans - Loose Blues
Some particularly fine playing from Jim Hall on this one, but that's not to underplay the excellence evident everywhere on this album.

Thanks for re-posting Ewe, and yes, sometimes a great artist can pass under the radar.
Will definitely be checking this chap out.

Love Records was the first Finnish record label that truly embraced the youth culture in the late 60’s. Love Records changed the whole country, it freed the youth after the war and created belief in the future.
Original vinyl from 1978. I remember (schoolboy as I then was) being very excited, having saved up for three weeks, to buy the 'Cocks debut album. It didn't disappoint then and it doesn't disappoint now.
2nd hand vinyl I got over 20 years ago:
Paul McCartney - Give My Regards to Broad Street, at least the music is better than the film
Pollini turns 77 today...
Bobby Watson - Present tense
If you like the music of Wayne Shorter, you will like this music as well. Very good jazz.
- Alto Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone – Bobby Watson
- Double Bass – Essiet Essiet
- Drums – Victor Lewis
- Piano – Edward Simon
- Trumpet – Terell Stafford
Let's give the Nak a bit of a workout! Great tape by a super young band from Barcelona:
Steeleye Span - All Around My Hat - vinyl
Quite a while since I last played this. It’s sounding very fine and vibrant. Maddy Prior has a fine voice to go with the band’s electric folk music.
Phil
The Who - Who Are You.
