What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
One Led Zep album wasn't enough.....
I can still remember waiting with eager anticipation for this to be released. Initially the change of style from LZI and LZII took me by surprise and I was a little unsure but that hesitation was short-lived.
(1994)
No Quarter
Not quite in the mood for MDS Mike's full on Zeppelin experience this evening, I've gone for this (sort of half way house) which is a softer version of their harder edged Unledded remaster that came out ten years later. Good stuff.
The Cult - Love - Omnibus Edition.
Some 80's magic, to take me up to the footy ................ need I say it? ................LOUD!!!

It was like listening to my old schoolboy C90 compilations. One of the songs they played had my rooting out the LP I have it on, it's their only hit but what a classic - any guesses?
I'm in love with a German film star.
I saw them at Newcastle Poly on that tour.
Now playing Rachel Grimes - Book of Leaves
With thanks to Massimo who introduced me to it. At first it was a kind of system test disc, but then, guess what, I started liking hearing it.
Congratulations - you win today's prize which is er, I'll have to have a think about that! I bought the album on the strength of that rather sublime song, the rest of it took a bit of getting used to. Great cover as well.
So, delving into sexual politics with this, bit like a stripped back Elastica, now playing on CD:
Mark Knopfler
Shangri-La - 24/96
‘Edward
Harold Vick - Steppin' out!
Nice soul jazz.
- Drums – Ben Dixon
- Guitar – Grant Green
- Organ – John Patton
- Tenor Saxophone – Harold Vick
- Trumpet – Blue Mitchell
I started this evening with a nice album with Bugge...
Playing on Vinyl - Fine debut from 1985 from Giant Sand - American rockers from Tuscon Arizona.
Then moved to this very fine album. First with a normal setup
laid back airy sound and then moving into a nice suite for Bigband..., give it a try...
Then went into some upcoming releases. If this song is the measure for the upcoming album, I would argue that Jeremy will be less modern as his latest album, and be closer to regular modern jazz, still good sounding though...
Again if the published song represents the album, this honors well the ECM type of trademark sound of painting with notes. I assume it will be liked by the usual people on the forum, and I also might fancy it...
Now this one is the on3 I have been anticipating a lot. It seems like it continues on the path of electrical integration in trio jazz. I hear some of the Tonbruket type of style but also some of the electronic explorations of Bugge. I hope thought that we also will see some further more acoustic explorations on the complete album. This is one I will definitely get...

Dave,
I remember we have had discussion about Love.Like you I love it too.Just one of those albums that's a superb production. What always gets me is Ian Astbury's voice. It's perfect for the music and he's always so articulate with his vocal phrasing.I am not musical but Ians voice is crystal clear and it always sounds like he's pitch perfect and never struggling - Top vocalist.
Must give Rain a spin later
Happy New Year Ian
CD on the MacBook
Why? Review. Interesting reworkings of some of their earlier songs.

Strange I got a message that it needed to be approved for publishing and now it shows up double as I published from another source, never had this before....
I've had that message a couple of times.

Jutta Hipp at the Hickory House. Swinging piano with classy support from Peter Ind and Ed Thigpen.
Emily Remler Quartet - Take Two
Some fine guitar bop to start the day.
Emily Remler - Blues for Herb
I know I frequently post Emily Remler album shots, but if you've not heard her and have an interest in jazz guitar, then try to find time to have a listen to this video, which I was studying last night. Some superb playing from both Emily and the bass player, whose name I do not know.
