What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Macy Gray - On How Life Is.
What is this ? Hip Hop? R 'n' B? ................. or something else altogether? .............. who cares?
A sensational debut album, and the worldwide hit single, "I Try", is surely one of the great earworms of all time.
Love this, and it doesn't have a bad track on it anywhere.
(2018)
This is just my first chance to listen to The Esher Demos since festivities broke out in December. Great stuff so far and enjoying my back to back listening of this one.
Santana - Milagro,, not exactly classic Santana but it has its moments.
In contradiction to what I sad before, I did have another Gazpacho album this afternoon, not their best, but still nice
Sam Rivers - Contours
Another great one by Sam Rivers. Recorded in 1965.
- Bass – Ron Carter
- Drums – Joe Chambers
- Piano – Herbie Hancock
- Tenor Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone, Flute – Sam Rivers
- Trumpet – Freddie Hubbard
Also played the Cream this afternoon. An album which I played a lot when I was young. I was not so super interested in the first cd, but especially the second disc with the long jams on base songs. I was and I am hugely impressed by these numbers, and even miss that style of playing in today’s rock world or perhaps I am just getting too sentimental.
Climax Blues Band - Hands Of Time
This plopped through the letterbox today, ripped and listening to it - a Ewemon suggestion.
From the album cover, the boys look very...err...experienced.
Very easy on the ear, I like it.
Susannah McCorkle - No More Blues
Prince and 3rdEyeGirl - Plectrum Electrum.
I know some of you on here would like this thread to be a little more descriptive regarding what 'type' of music we are posting so here goes. If you like film scores not soundtracks this is a beautiful double album. It sees the celebrated Maestro performing some of his greatest film music from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly to his recent Academy Award-winning score for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. It also marks his 60th anniversary as a composer and conductor.
ATB Graham.

Take a look on YouTube there is a couple of studio sessions, nice sound, very professional.
Analogue from start to finish (recording, mixing, mastering, cutting): "Up In Smoke", the debut album by Ese & The Vooduu People, on my label! Pressed by Optimal in Germany to a very high standard, this is one of the test pressings I received today.
Sounds absolutely lush (and the music's pretty decent too)
Charles McPherson - Bebop revisited
Recorded in 1964.
- Alto Saxophone – Charles McPherson
- Bass – Nelson Boyd
- Drums – Al Heath
- Piano – Barry Harris
- Trumpet – Carmell Jones
Vienna Teng - Dreaming Through The Noise
This is interesting. Difficult to pigeon-hole but Vienna sounds a bit like Tori Amos on sedatives, and that is meant as a compliment.
She is rather talented.
Max Richter - Three Worlds: Music From Woolf Works
A contemplative album that has assisted immensely in the baking of bacon & feta scones with the Mrs.
Cheers
Led Zeppelin - Presence
Just because it's Pagey's birthday (75) today, I'll play one of my favourite studio albums from the band.
Richard Hawley - Hollow Meadows. I've had this for quite a while, but only just getting round to giving it a serious listen. Sounding good with the usual mellow and relaxing tunes.
Sting
Ten Summoners Tales - CD Rip
Edward
When I saw Melody Gardot perform live in November she concentrated on her songs supported by string and acoustic sections, rather than the brass and electric guitar on the previous occasion I had seen her. I very much enjoyed it and her music on this album follows that same theme.
Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed.
From the mono boxset, some old geezers doing it, as only they can ................... ah, memories!
Vinyl released 1978 - Heard Every Kinda People on the local radio today, spurned me to play this fine album. ????
Chillin' out after a day at the office in London and what better choice than this: one of my fave Roxy albums, great production now spinning on vinyl:
Madonna - Greatest Hits Volume 2,
Solo percussion, very interesting. Track 2 is a bit too slow for my liking, but 1 and particularly 3 are quite enchanting.
