Me too, two listens so far. More to like than Yellow House I think.
Also Lightning Seeds: Four Winds and Patrick Watson: Wooden Arms.

A bunch of target CDs:
Van Dyke Parks - Jump!
I bought Jump on vinyl when it came out in the 80s - fantastic vinyl sound, if you'd rather go that route. Don't know what the CD's like. Possibly my favourite of VDP's albums.
Recently bought the Ry Cooder UFO 2-CD set which has remastered versions of some of his best work (the whole catalogue would have been good, but never mind).
Levon Helm's Dirt Farmer - superb stuff from a survivor.
Anne Briggs - The Time Has Come - one of the best folk LPs of the early 70s, stunningly remastered and repackaged by Sony.
Kathy Dalton - In My Own Time - ditto (indie label).
Mary Hampton - My Mother's Children
Spirit of Joy - Polydor anthology 1967-74 ish - includes some great rarities.

PATRICK WATSON : Wooden Arms (2009)
This album has its personal sound.
I think this is really musical art among the hundreds of new releases.

Thoroughly recommended. Quite accessible, but still very interesting, especially with the combination of instruments that make up this Quartet.

It has intrigued me, and parts are excellent. Some tracks remind me of Thomas Dolby.
Have you read the Pitchforkmedia review? I think it is fair to say they did not like it... 3.3/10!

Further explorations of Shostakovich. I'm really looking forward to symphony no. 5 which from what I've heard so far is pretty dark. The idea of dark classical music, as opposed to merely sad or mournful, is thrilling.
Gergiev's interpretation of no. 7 will mark the first time I've listened to a different interpretation of a piece I already own and am pretty familiar with. I'm excited to compare them.

Impulse decision purchase whilst shopping in Tesco’s!
Played half of CD 1 in the car on the way home, and it’s not bad, quite good for driving to anyway... the sound quality is shown up to be slightly lacking when played on the home audio, but for £4 for this 4 CD set it’s ideal for in-car music... and this will probably lead me to reference picking of favoured artists and more album buying! : )
