True, I had it on my wish list for quite a while but couldn't make up my mind - sometimes you just need a little help. Smile

I'll join you. Great album. Ian Dury and the Blockheads at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle, Australia, (20+ years ago!) remains one of the best concerts I've seen.

I especially enjoy the tempo tapped out by the bass right through this album. An excellent demo album for those wanting others to understand PRaT, IMO. The bassist (don't know his name) is an outstanding musician.

(Whoops, wrong thread - meant to be WAYLT,,,,)

Boards of Canada "Geogaddi".

Amazon.com
Geogaddi, like Boards of Canada's 1998 debut album, Music Has the Right to Children, drifts its way into consciousness, rolling a fog of dark-hued psychedelia over slow-burning, lullaby melodies. Having led a reclusive existence in their Hexagon Sun studio, shunning interviews and live shows in an effort to escape the shrill, loud praise that accompanied Children's release, the enigmatic Scottish duo has stayed focused, creating another tour de force in the process. Geogaddi opens with no fanfare, with the bare hum of "Ready Lets Go" blossoming into the soporific, hypnotic chimes of "Music Is Math". But for the next 65 minutes, it's clear that while BOC move slow, they do so with the power of shifting glaciers. All their old influences--the noise-as-melody drone of My Bloody Valentine, the brave futuristic synths of Neu!--remain, but more than anything, Geogaddi is about the vivid sense of warm melancholy that lingers when the music fades out. It's another slow-burner, but Geogaddi is as utterly essential as its predecessor. --Louis Pattison

I'll never get that hour back! (66 minutes and 6 seconds actually - as track 16 states, the devil is in the details*)

Sorry to hear you've had an adverse reaction to my mongodelic recommendation. There's an amusing article here for you that might explain why, if it doesn't make your head hurt too much.

Give it a few more goes, and you'll slowly realise that it's pretty good. 1969 is particularly awesome.

Subliminally yours,

* The cd of Geogaddi is, of course, 666 mb as a WAV file.

Ha! I thought you'd left forever Chief.

I promise i did try, but i guess i just prefer music.

Just in case you are the author of that article i shall not tell my opinion of it (out of a humble respect for your other suggestions)

except to say that were i to voice my thoughts then Arse and head up it would be certainly mentioned.

With some zest.

Still, doc's orders prevent the smoking of that necessary to appreciate the 'experiment'.

However on a more musical note i have succumbed to your way of thinking regarding In Search Of... it has surpassed Fly or Die.

And This is a work of excellence. It's on next.
