Sunday Times recommendation.

'The material on this CD consists of very well-known and well-loved songs that have been handed down through the generations in Bosnia. These songs are beautiful examples of the standard repertoire of the highly complex musical culture of the region. Amira s and Merima Klju o s present interpretation, however, is far from standard. The treatment of the material by Merima Klju o is original and contemporary. Contemporary not merely in its use of techniques, but also in its approach of the songs from a different perspective. Both with arrangements, as well as with interpretation, a new dimension to the traditional songs is created. Elements that are hidden in underlying layers are brought to the surface. Merima Klju o and Amira look at these traditional songs under a new light, and in so doing, rediscover them and present them to us as the true gems they are. The meaning of Zumra is emerald , but metaphorically it is also a name for anything or anyone that varies from the usually accepted values or standards.'

After listening to Bleu's MySpace, decided to buy from Amazon US.

As an old music room thread once said - "If you like Jellyfish..."

Gary,

I was going to buy it, but removed from my order. Limited funds at the moment, so spreading my purchases. Looking at the You Tube footage, Bleu & friends would be great to see over here.

Havn't worked out how to get the art work up. Here's a few from the last couple of weeks that have made my world a better place:

Andres - II (US Mahogani Music CD24)
Hip Hop, Funk & House 30 track stroll through the musical legacy of Detroit.

Pal Joey - Somewhere in New York (US PJM1040)
Collection of wonderful jazzy house from Pal Joey over the last 20 years. Many hard to find and expensive tracks here. CD1 mixed CD2 unmixed.

Conforce - Machine Conspiracy (MEAN020CD)
Superbly crafted deep techno. Track 4 (Love Hate) is beautiful and is a great example of how good this style of music can be for people unfamiliar with this sound. Similar in feel to the epic 'Acid Eiffel'.

Deepentertained - 1994-2009 Statik Entertainment (German Statik Entertainment31)

Mixed from tuntables by Leonid. Deep 'analogue' techno superbly mixed. One for the Maurizio people.

Heartbeat Presents Derrick May - Air (Japanese LACD0169)
Only available direct from Japan due to licencing issues over here, but worth the hassle and expense. I've been listening to this guy DJ for over 20 years and still he is inspirational to me. The feel for the music that he puts into his mix is gripping. 25 tracks in this mix and he just works it. Fantastic.

Hope you like.

My bad - the first one is Irm by Charlotte Gainsbourg and the second one is the new MGMT.

First few listens very positive. Much better than 'Beware' that missed the mark for me.

It is very 'sparse' mostly, closest to the style of 'Master and Everyone' but it is subtle and deceptively complex. I had it on my ipod at home last night and was really captivated.

Hope you like it

Very nice selection.

Miles,

After the fabulous vocals from Sweet Billy Pilgrim I thought I'd explore more great singers from Bon Iver & Shearwater.
