I have had a soft spot for Pogorelich since buying his Bach English Suite disc in the '80 when first issued. The Scarlatti is spellbinding

Big thanks to whoever suggested the Yo La Tengo: Fakebook album in a thread about albums of cover versions. What a cracker; I'd never delved so far back in the YLT catalogue but it is a gem.

kk, I see I got you on the Andy Smith, then? Nice one.
As for Heligoland, I thought a few folk might be interested in hearing this early 'Naimed' version of the best track, that I found recently:
That's 'Harpsichord', from 2008. I'm sure Simon Drake knows why the Yolanda Quartey (Phantom Limb) version was replaced by Hope Sandoval's 'Paradise Circus', as he hinted at it on my MA thread from a year or so back, but he didn't let on.
Sounds pretty good, anyhow.

Haim, you should have let me know. For you, I would have undercut the $55 guy by maybe a dollar or even two

Sinopoli recorded the 8th Symphony in the early '80's with the Philharmonia (along with Mendelssohn's Italian symphony) -
Not only are they splended performances but the recording is very good. Has been a favourite since I bought it in the mid '80. I think that it is still available on DG Masters
