A bit of catching up

Belle and Sebastian 'Write About Love'

Iron and Wine 'Our Endless Numbered Days (which I reckon is still the best thing he has done).

Debs, that's a cool record, and after all these years still unsurpassed IMO. Have had Vol.1 for years, and it's never left the main shelf.

EJ,

Vol.1 is still available on Amazon (other sellers) for new from £36.95, or used from £29.03 !!

You should be very pleased with your investment

But this cost is far too high for my budget, so i've put it on my wish list just in case a price drops.

My vol.2 copy cost me £6.25 to include p&p, and this issue now seems to be unavailable (in the shown wrapper), although i wonder if these same fine works may be lurking around at affordable prices on different record labels (?)

Well, Savall re-recorded some of these works for his own label, AliaVox, and those should be readily available, although probably at regular (premium) price. But they're not the pioneering efforts that the earlier recordings represent

This has been my most played album this year, (alongside Rick Smith, Underworld 'Bungalow with Stairs).

The music from Spike Lee's film 'When the Levees Broke', but not just a soundtrack album, but a performance of the music written for that, plus other pieces inspired, if that is the right word, by the hurricane Katrina disaster.

The music seems to have more focus and feel than much jazz I have heard from the post Be-bop musicians who often came through with Art Blakey, and similar bands. Less showing off how great their playing is, and more playing from the heart. Highly recommended if US jazz is your thing.
