Bought this for some background music for SWMBO but it turns out to be on Rhino & it's a cracking recording!

Nightwish

I guess they are an average sort of Finnish Symphonic Power Metal band with the type of singer you'd expect to front a grunge type combo.

Anette Ingegerd Olzon

I know what you're thinking wasn't she in that rather ordinary band Alyson Avenue and, of course, you'd be right, but Nightwish are a bit different.

Washed Out: Within and Without. Thought I'd take a punt on something that is not my usual stuff. Not sure I've changed my mind...

Dolorean: You Can't Win. Moderately routine melancholic (or dreary according to my wife) country rock, but good enough. Recent 'Unfazed' is an excellent album.

Mara Carlyle: Floreat and Balam Acab:  Wander/Wonder, last two albums from the Rough Trade Album Club. Both utterly failing to float my boat. One minimalist electronic bedroom doodling, the other a vaguely Bjorkish singer with classical pretensions.

I'm hanging on for the new Wilco album to lift me from a music buying slump!

The War On Drugs: Slave Ambient

Not an easy one to classify, quite dense (not terribly ambient if you ask me) electronic tinged rock with a bit of Auromatic-era REM, some of Field Music and (according to one review I read) a modern take on the Travelling Wilburys. Didn't get that myself. Worth checking out some sample/Spotify maybe because it is an interesting listen and definitely a grower.
