Redshift 'Colder' (live at the Hampshier Jam 2010).
I am enjoying this more as a recording than I did live, although I did like it at the time. Perhaps after the very energetic set by the Omega Syndicate, the coldness of this music seemed too different. Still good to hear it back now.

The new Oddfellow Casino album on the Pickled Egg label.

Despite some mixed reviews, I actually like very much what I'm hearing on youtube. And for 11 quid on Amazon, what's the risk?

A cheap impulse buy: under 5,- on Amazon UK. The slow movement of the violin concerto is one of the most beautiful tunes Brahms wrote. It is incredibly hard to pull off, and I am still on the lookout for a completely satisfying recording. I'm hoping Repin plays it big but applies some of the sensitivity he showed on his French sonata disc here, and leaves any Russian school scorched earth tactics at home.
Cheers,
EJ

Another bargain, of a disc I've wanted for a very long time. Monteverdi's vespers in a one-voice-per-part performance, done by the best ensemble there is for this music. Originally appeared on Opus 111 (if ever there was a quality label for early music... they had Fabio Biondi, Paolo Pandolfo and Rinaldo Alessandrini under contract. Alessandrini stayed with Naive, Biondi went to Virgin and Pandolfo founded his own label, Glossa).

Tried to buy this last year, but the supplier could not deliver. Pleased to see on the Piano Magic FB page the CD was available from their shop - http://www.piano-magic.co.uk/shop.html
Picked a couple for 10p each, from Save the Children:-

...and The New World Collection, Dvorak No9+ Bernstein,Barber and Gershwin. LSO , Simon.

Since I've a hard time sourcing his earlier Carnegie Hall Concert version ('60s), this is a '77 recording of Debussy's Suite Bergamasque.
