Portico Quartet, eponymous third album
An excellent new album, and a bit of a change of direction from first two albums (we were treated to a preview of it when we saw PQ in Cambridge in the autumn). Less 'busy' if I may say that, more meditative.

* even found a couple of photos of the event that give sense of the creative connectivity between the four...

Svjatoslav Richter
Beethoven • Chopin • Debussy
Finally arrived today. Not familiar with this brand but just for a quick listen on Suite Bergamasque, they did a pretty good job restoring this live recording at the Salzberg Festival in '77. Performance wise, I am not liking as much as Gieseking in spite this is a much better fidelity. Richter is taking a slow delicate approach where some light hearted almost butterfly like nature of the tunes got lost, I feel. But it's exquisite and tenderly played albeit he does not leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Via ZVoverstocks(Amazon) for 21p + P&P = £1.37 :-
