Günter Wand recorded Bruckner 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 with the Berliner (live) before he passed away in 2002 - these have a huge reputation but I never got around to them. This is the first time the recordings are gathered into a box set, and fortunately Sony made the decision to not split the symphonies over multiple discs (except the 8th, which rather generously occupies two dedicated discs).

I didnt buy this set.

Its going  to  be on its way from New Zealand with a few others  from a great old friend Richard that moved over there when we were both 8 years old in the early 60s.

I am in tears after reading the mail i just got from his son.

i was speaking to him on Skype last week.

I fookin hate road motor bikes.

The first time i ever had ham with sand on it was round his place for tea.

Silly bloody things you remember.

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

I also saw JH & KC recently and as a result investigated some of their solo stuff. My favourite JH album is Opalescent. Contact Note is in a similar vein and IMO comes a close second. If you're not already aware you can sample the whole album for free on Grooveshark.com. Hope you like it.

George.

Currently on Amazon for £7.99 + free uk deliver option.

At £1 an album, £2 a CD it's great value for money,

but i really like the way this CD's sound so i'm collecting some of these sets.

just a shame about the horrid plastic jewel cases is all.

I searched on the net after spotting a post by DustySox of these guy's compilations. I don't think it was this particular one , but ever since I've been lusting to get my hands on any of their material.

I spotted this in my local music store. It's bloody marvellous. Thanks for the intro Dusty.

Cheers
