Lo-Fi Resistance - Chalk Lines (cd preorder)
Really looking forward to this. Released on the Burning Shed label, Chalk Lines is the second album from guitarist/vocalist Randy McStine's ambitious Lo-Fi Resistance project.
Been listening to this a lot today on Spotify, I really didn't think we'd ever get another great Aersosmith album but this is bang on, it may have been an 11 year wait but well worth it, ordered the Deluxe Version with DVD.

Larks Tongues in Aspic 40th Anniversary Edition. I think that this will be my last purchase of KC reissues. I bought the LP first time round. Bought the CD and now the reissue. This is true of all my KC music from ITCOTCK all the way through to Red with several compilation albums thrown in for good measure.

Two live recordings:

Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1 & 3 : Richter/Ancerl/Czech Philharmonic

Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1: Argerich/Ozawa

Contains some great live & alternative versions of classic tracks from the Human Menagerie & Psychomodo years. Love it!

A new studio recording of Giulio Cesare, with Lemieux as a contralto Cesare (I have never heard the role sung by a countertenor), and Gauvin as Cleopatra. I haven't heard the performances that this recording is based on, but on paper, this looks to have a great cast down to the smallest roles (Johannes Weisser, who sang Don Giovanni on Jacobs' recording, sings the small role of Achilla).
Cheers,
EJ

Snorri Helgason : Winter Sun
Just another singersongwriter from Island..... a very good one, nice atmosphere, good sound quality.

Joni - The Studio Years 10 CD set
Having only heard Blue & Hits before, I'm looking forward to listening to the later one's.
What's the general opinion. Early albums better - later albums better - all good ?
You shouldn't be disappointed by any of them.

Yep. Not a dud one in that set. All great.

... because it's time I gave this a listen, having been recorded in (and refering to) my home city. Although it looks like the cover is a shot of another old haunt of mine, the Manchester Apollo.

Kirsty Maccoll: Tropical Brainstorm. Inexplicably missing from my collection until now.
Two american folk 'ish' albums of rather good tunes;
Seryn: This is Where We Were. Anyone who enjoys Fleet Foxes will find plenty to like.
The Vespers: The Fourth Wall. More country feel, a more jaunty First Aid Kit
Both on Grooveshark for the curious.

Bought two EP's by the wonderful Rae Morris & NoSound (featuring Chris Maitland on drums)...

Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, played by Isabelle Faust, on the Harmonia Mundi label. Am listening to it right now - absolutely stunning and beautiful playing. Her Dvorak Violin Concerto is one of the best available too.

Easy to listen to. Great recording.
Thanks to Ron's obscure PROG thread, I discovered I was missing some accordian for occaisional relief from the 17/8 assaults...
