Historical interest only.

I found the premier recording of Prokofiev's Symphony-Concertante Op.125 played by Rostropovich and Sviatoslav Richter as a conductor! Apparently this was the only recording that exists Richter conducting.

Some say the Richter/Rostropovich paring has more energy than the Sargent/Royal Phil. This would be interesting.

Still chipping away at Britten. Some audiophile label but I like Van Beinum. Let's see how he does Four Sea Interludes...

Some early Aimee Mann song writing. As mention a week or so ago a strong CD  of admittedly pop(ish) songs.  I'm thinking lighter version of Heart or Martha and the Muffins. Thanks TonyM.

Sometimes, it's amusing to listen to a CD that received a scathing reivew to see what the critic is on about.

Per Allmusic review:

While the performance is adequate, it simply lacks the extreme precision of rhythm and articulation that characterizes superior renditions. The string section of the orchestra plays with great gusto, but the same cannot be said of the brass, who seem weaker by comparison. Intonation in tutti wind sections is problematic at times, further detracting from the sense of meticulousness. Maybe there really is something to be said about Shostakovich's symphonies being performed by Russian orchestras.

Ouch!
