Of Montreal. It sounds kind of like Apples In Stereo. Also The Dylan Group. Sounds kind of like Tortoise.

Shop 3, Mezzanine level,
City Centre Building - use the monorail station entrance near the corner of Pitt and Market Streets, Sydney.

Thanks Adrian, I was in there recently & bought a couple of LP's. Had a train to catch & didn't have much time to look through the CDs, but I'll certainly get that one next time I'm in town.

Shadows and Light:Joni Mitchell
High Blues Pressure: Freddie Hubbard -both of these oldies I had on vinyl, but wanted the convienience of the CD. Both are HDCD's that sound great and stand up well to the LP's
Closer: David Sanborn -surprisingly good CD by a musician associated with "smooth jazz" who can play real jazz. Sometimes, in the past, he has sounded too brash and harsh, overblowing the horn, but here he plays with great control and tone.

Rilo Kiley-More Adventurous. Excellent sparky album. Anyone heard anything else by them?
Jessie Sykes and The Sweet Hereafter-Oh My Girl Sounds good, probably a 'grower'.

The latest Lemonjelly album. Pretty good, although not as great as the last one. Track 2 and the final track are well put together though.

Kenny Wheeler / John Taylor - Where Do We Go from Here?; Lyrical pieces by a ripened duo, well recorded, but most of all: Sensitive, musically dense
Gilad Atzmon - Musik; Combining political expression and music excellence: Chapeau ! Highly recommended !
Wollny/Kruse/Schaefer - Call It [em]; Another coup on the ACT label. Watch out E.S.T. ! You're being followed by astonishing youngsters.
Expat (from Oz): Go and get Wollny/Kruse/Schaefer... I'll eat my shoes if you don't just LOVE them !

Tim,
that's a great version of Nozze and well worth the Grampophone. It really sparkles on my CDX2, can't wait to see what a difference the 282 will make.
Picked up today:
Walton - Violin & Viola Concertos (Kennedy, Rattle, CBSO)
Shostakovich 7th (Leningrad LPO, Jansons)
Mahler - Das lied von der Erde (Ferrier,Walter)
Kasabian - new album
The Cure - Pornography (couldn't find LP at home and wanted to listen again)

An excellent recommendation ..... thanks, I have enjoyed immensely since purchasing yesterday. An absolutely awesome choice for a quiet Sunday morning.
I must sheepishly admit I am a latecomer to KJP .... who lived in Portland and was a weekly performer at a local tavern for several years ... there was quite a local "buzz" but I never followed through ... an opportunity missed to see him in the "purest" form. Better latecomer than never ... thanks again for the recommend Adrian.

Clark Terry / Max Roach - Friendship - A gem discovered ! Especially the duo pieces display wise "old timers" that can easily teach youngsters of their rich history in Jazz. Without finger pointing. Great album (Avatar Studios...)
Silvana Deluigi - Yo ! - Another great record of the "Amercian Clavé" label that also brings us Kip Hanrahan, and great Piazzolla adaptations. 2005 style Tango. Very intense music.
Górecki - Symphony #3 - (Naxos CD, cause I was curious. The "real one" being ordered) See the other thread about Górecki. All's been said, there. Great music of the 20th century !
Keith Jarrett - Facing you - Thanks, Fred Simon, for pointing me at this. I thought I had a pretty good knowledge of Jarrett's catalogue with 35ish recordings in my archive, but this one is a clear MUST.
Annouar Brahem - Barzakh - Not his best record, but still very worthwhile listening to and having.
Brahms, Chopin, Franck - Cello Sonatas - A follow-up to hearing Franck's cello sonata (YoYo Ma and D. Barenboim) in January, where the Franck sonata really touched me. CD has Barenboim and his then wife Jacqueline du Pré.
