First heard of Kelly Joe Phelps a few weeks ago whilst browsing in my fave CD store - loved my first purchase, so being buying more....and it is all superb.
For me, Kelly Joe Phelps is a "local artist", although he doesn't play around here as much as I'd like. If you don't have it already, look for "Lead Me On", his first release, on the Burnside label. Still my favorite.
My last cd purchase: Happenstance, by Rachael Yamagata. If you like Fiona Apple, and even if you don't, check this one out.

Another nice lot from MA recordings: Churches, Ancient Halls, Monasteries and other places which hold a very individual sound captured on disc by means of simplest recording technologies and ambitioned musical projects / musicians
Jiang Ting - The Voice of the Pipa - Chiesa di San Colombano, Lucca, Italy
Mauro Refosco - Seven Waves - St, Peters Church, Chelsea, NYC, USA - St. Peters has proven on many (Chesky) recordings to be a place with spirit. John Lurie and Paul Socolow amongst the 8 players
la chimera - Buenos Aires Madrigal - Parrochia di S. Vittore, Agrate, Conturbia, Italy - Italian Madrigal meets Agentina Tango
Sera Una Noche - - Monastero Gandara, Argentina - First of the two Sera una Noche recordings full of Argentinian Tango feeling.
Joao Paulo, Peter Epstein, Ricardo Dias - Nascer - St. George Church, Lisboa, Portugal
Bruce Stark - To The Winter Sun - The Harmony Hall, Matsumoto, Japan
Peter Epstein - Solus - San Martino Cathedral, Lucca, Italy
Barry Wedgle, Shigeo Sugiyama - virgo - The Harmony Hall, Matsumoto, Japan - Classical or Flamenco Guitar and double bass
Peter Epstein, Scott Colley, Peter Erskine - Old School - St, Peters Church, Chelsea, NYC, USA

Recent purchases.
Mary Chapin Carpenter: Between Here And Gone. Best she has done for ages I think.
Mojave 3: Excuses For Travellers. A real grower, think I ultimately like this more than 'Spoon and Rafter' Summery and melodic.
Shearwater Winged Life. Not sure about this one, rather overwrought along lines of Tom Mcrae/Aqulaung.

Kon Tiki, Cotton Mather; the end of a long search for this excellent CD (Thanks for the assist Howard!). Very Beatlesque, which is the primary musical requirement for CDs I look for.
Then & Now, the Who; nicely packaged "greatest hits" CD from the Shepherd's Bush Mods. Has most of the early singles, which is really all I need from them. Also features two new tracks which feature Greg Lake(!) on bass, though the bass playing is so anonymous-sounding it could've been me on bass (a bit of a disappointment); I was hoping for some Ox-style bass attack. Zak Starkey is a good Moon-style drummer though!

Well done, Mark - and wait, until we'll see her at her concert...
Larry Coryell - Standing Ovation - One of my first "Jazz" records from 1978, had to buy it again, on CD, today. Funny glasses, those !
John Abercrombie & Frank Haunschild - Read a review and heard an excerpt on the radio; had to buy it. Two (acc.) guitar players, intimate pieces.
Ralph Towner & Gary Peacock - A closer view
Pierre Boulez (CSO, Berlin Phil., LSO) - Bela Bartok, Piano concertos #1 (Zimerman), #2 (Andsnes), #3 (Grimaud) - Birthday edition for Boulez
Omar Sosa - Mulatos - (not yet heard, Adrian... You should ask for commission for your hints)
Guy Klucevsek - The Well Tampered Accordion - out of the Winter & Winter Edition that has SO many fine editions, that this one has to be good, as well. We'll see...
Chopin, Rachmaninov - Piano Sonatas #2 and #2 (Helene Grimaud) - Running in my car (competing with Madeleine Peyroux) for a week now: Marvellous ! Expecially the too often played Chopin Sonata !
