It just arrived and I have to say it's a very high quality box. Well made, a nice book on top and 90 CD's inside - only for 117 euros on Amazon, a steal...

While working further on the ripping. I realized myself that of all the boxes I have the Sony boxes are by far the best made boxes. The whole packaging, books into it, the look..... Much better then some of the others....

It of course doesn't say something about the music in the boxes and the recording quality.

Exploring more contemporary composer's work.

This time, György Ligeti which I know nothing about.

I don't often go for these audiophile recordings, but there are a few tracks on here that make this one worth it. The recording production, however, is truly magical.

Despite a lot of negative comments about the album, I think it has some great interpretations of some timeless classics. A bit of a change of direction, none the less very enjoyable

Agreed, we've just purchased Wallflower in 24-bit 48KHz and we like it a lot - I think some of the negative reviews are a bit unfair really.

The Unthanks: Mount The Air

Lovely, melancholy folk, some tracks with more lush musical accompaniment to Last, to variable effect perhaps. Still very good on first play.

Buchbinder isn't my favourite piano player ( he's more of a technician than an interpreter ) but I could not pass up the opportunity to get the whole box set for a mere 3$ USD. This way at least I get to familiarise myself with papa Haydn's piano sonatas.

New name to me, have I been sleeping or is this a secret tip which I couldn't have known ?

Bert, he seems to be on a limited release program, like Luisada, so keeping up with release lists will only get you so far. He's quite active in the concert scene but doesn't do many major houses. Good chance of seeing him in Germany.

Completely agree. I think it's quite good. No need to criticise it simply because it isn't to your taste.
