Can you tell us more about this album? It's due out on MArch 1 this side of the Atlantic and I can't wait...

I will !
Once I've given it a more serious listen. Due to some "re-structuring" of my sistem, I didn't touch the new stuff, yet.

I plan to do so, one of the coming evenings, and will give you my feedback (not very familiar with Bartok's music, though...)

Iron + Wine 'The Woman King EP'. Excellent stuff, previously LoFi songwriter gets a band, and a decent producer. Well worth investing for those that liked his previous and Bonnie Prince Billy etc.

Yo La Tengo 'And Nothing Turned itself...' Somehow missed this in my first YLT spree, and I think I like it best of them so far.

I bought the Beekeeper last week, IMO it's her best work in many years and has been on contast rotation. I bought The Cosmic Game today and initial impressions are that it's a load of tosh and I will get more use out of the free HMV sampler than I got with it. I do like The Theivery Corp. but this album seems way too long and is nothing different to their previous album.

Too many opportunties near my office to spend my money, particularly the excellent Birdland Jazz shop in Sydney - just can't resist.

Giorgio Serci - New York sessions - Naim CD

Avishai Cohen Trio & Ensemble - At Home - pretty good jazz album from the Chick Corea bass player - very bassy

David Kikowski Trio - Details - piano trio with Larry Grenadier and Bill Stewart

Dee Dee Bridgewater - J'ai Deux Amours - classic french songs jazz style

Wollny/Kruse/Schaefer - Call It (Em) - thanks Stefan - very EST

Kurt Rosenwinkel - Deep Song - some interesting guitar music with Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman

Tori Amos - The Beekeeper - first CD of hers that I have bought since I bought Little Earthquakes on release day all those years ago...

Neil Diamond - Hot August Night - Going to see him next week - thought I better get to know all the tunes - apparently (a piece of useless information)this CD is owned by 1 in 3 Australian households

Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams - terribly easy going, laid back pop - perfect for laying on the beach

Robbie Williams - Greatest Hits - needed some simple pop on the long drive from Canberra to Sydney - thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family

Cheers

#3 is the best for my ears - both in terms of the music and the interpretation. But then, I'm biased when it comes to HG. I belive she is not a one hit wonder or one trick pony - many want to beleive it, though.

Muddy Waters - Folk Singer.
Bought this yesterday from Virgin Magastore in London..Just a quick buy at the end of a business trip to London..
Trouble was when I dropped it into my CDX it wouldn't play...it's a "Classic 24/96 DAD"

Sounds great on my PC so I'll have to change it for the CD version. Although I have seen a Vinyl
copy for sale at Vivante..Now which one should I have.

Anthony & the Johnsons - I am a bird now. Have absolutely no idea what to think of this, didn't like it on first spin but there are some definite hooks.

Solomon Burke - Make do with what you got. A bit disappointing I must say, but there are a couple of good tracks to compensate.

Badi Assad - Verde. An absolute cracker, anyone who liked Omar Sosa's "Mulato" should have no problem with this.

I've seen Badi Assad a couple of months ago with Coryell+Abercrombie. She ruled the stage. Very charismatic. Guess I will get "Verde", too. Thanks for the reco.

Adrian,
Good move on David Murray Winker Juicy sounds perfect for the (leaving) summer in Oz, I guess ! (and a good idea to use as a stepping stone for my f***ing speaker quest...)
Aldo Romano - Saw him 23 years ago, and didn't understand what he was doing. Since then I was kinda "paralyzed" to do more research on him. Maybe, I should overcome that "menthal blocking", by now...
Kozena: Err. She's in every review, now. Left me surprisingly cold. Have to grow on her ? Dunno.

cheers (and Good Morning)

Try "Love Songs" - she sings in her native Czech and this is the one that convinced me.

This was playing on the in car CD player when I got stopped for speeding in the US - I didn't get a ticket Roll Eyes
