so to get things off and running
queen--the highlander sound track
1994 remaster on Capitol that is supposed to have good SQ...
Iron Maiden, The Book of Souls as it is new
Led Zeppelin 4
My Dying Bride Songs of Darkness Words of Light
My Dying Bride, the dreadful hours
Pre-ordered and due 23rd October.
Me too.
Just to fill in a gap (the only gap?) in my Joni collection:
CAMEL The Snow Goose (2002 UK 21-track digitally remastered CD issue of their 1975 album featuring 5 bonus recordings including alternate edits of Flight Of The Snow Goose & Rhayader and live versions of Rhayader Goes To Town & The Snow Goose/ Freefall picture booklet inlay with extensive sleevenotes)
Jeff Beck paid fitting Tribute to Les Paul, celebrating what would have been the pioneering guitarist’s 95th birthday by playing his friend and mentor’s music, along with classic tunes from the era, in the same Times Square nightclub that Paul played every Monday for 14 years before his death in August 2009.
The Gulda Mozart Tapes, Vol. 2
Bought this collection at HMV for £9.99. Good VFM.
I bought the Terry Reid vinyl lp back in 1969. I never pursued his later work. Don't know why. The quality of this lp production doesn't do justice to the artist or the material.
On initial listening the cd's are much better.
For info. he turned down Jimmy Page's invitation to join Led Zeppelin, but recommended Robert Plant instead. Reid later was offered a position as a member of Deep purple when they decided to replace singer rod Evans, but again declined due to contractual agreements. Ian Gillan was given the position instead.
Like Lloydy, the Gilmour deluxe CD/Blu-ray box:
The 2008 remaster
The 1992 remaster
Haitink/ Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks : Beethoven Missa Solemnis
Hot off the press!
the last cd i bought was a bootleg bmw navigation os and map from fleabay. i know its 2 cds but they came in the same wallet!
Frances The Mute & De-Loused In The Comatorium both by The Mars Volta
Vivaldi Recorder Concertos: Erik Bosgraaf
I was so ODed on his 4 Seasons ( Sunday Brunch music ) but always like the sound of recorder.
Ritual Do Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction plus The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Underworld - save me getting up each time to change the LP side.
First music from this composer. 10 CD box set.
Never heard of this composer, do you like the music and if so what does it remind you off ?
Hi Bert,
Viotti was a great violinist formed in the Italian style like Corelli, he composed mostly for violin.
His concertos are like other late 1700 violin concertos with prevalence of the violin. I liked them, indeed, I am going to buy the rest of his work, mostly chamber music. This Dynamic stuff is well done.
Regards.
Erich

Thanks looks like something I should give a try, it's good to every now and then find something new through this forum..
I recently treated myself to the complete Ella Fitzgerald song book box set. I already had most all on vinyl, a few on reel tape, but only one on CD. Very impressive packaging, with vinyl replica sleeves, full notes, hard book books etc.. Oh, and of course great music beautifully sung.

Very tempting Richard, but ridiculously expensive if bought from some of the usual suspects. It must be something very very special to command that sort of money. Enjoy them!
